  1. Can we consider our existance to be optional? Is there a point in “unlife” in which we are able to decide wether to drive into terrenal ground and renew the cycle? Life is build on options, maybe…

    by Kaizar on 08.18.2009
  2. Something is optional and that means that you don’t have to do it. Optional things can often be good. I like participating in some optional things. Having options are good, but too many options are bad. I hate it when I am faced with too many choices. I do the best I can with the options that are laid out for me. That is all that anyone can do, unfortunately. I hope to have more options as much future continues and things get brighter. I’m looking forward to having more options for things as time goes on.

  3. the choices i make.. are not the best of choices. really.

i just got yelled today that i do all the things i want, but not the things i need.

i am incredibly ashamed of myself. why do i do this?

    by Jo on 08.18.2009
  4. sometimes things arent as optional as i’d like them to be… if being born into a religion was optional them we would be able to think and speak from birth, to be able to choose and avoid nasty situations when we got older…to avoid heartbreak

    by Ayu on 08.18.2009
  5. Optional. yeah sure.
optional. they say we have options.
    oh please.
    do you have acceptable pyjamas?
    what the fuck
    shouldn’t pyjamas be optional?
    nope. manditory.
    optional courses too.
    yeah right
my parents have control of those choices.
    bullshit

  6. nothing in life is ever optional. that’s what my parents have taught me since 2nd grade, when we had optional challenge math problems. optional, they told me, did not really mean i had a choice.
likewise, when my mother was choosing chemo treatments, they gave her various ‘options’. No, she told me, these were really just different variations of the same doctor’s plan.
i’m off to college in a few years, and i’m starting to really wonder. do i have options? can i just pack up and leave?

  8. Going to school is NOT optional.

But MO-OM, I hate school. I don’t learn anything I really want to know. Like how come ice cream is so cold and creamy but ice makes my mouth hurt? Like how long does it take for baby rabbits to learn how to hop?

    by kjeb on 08.18.2009
  9. everything is completely optional. Nothing can be forced, nothing can be truly manditory. Everything in this world is ours to choose, and if we let ourselves be led by the beat of others drums then we will never truly know who we are.

    by Jeff on 08.18.2009
  10. gerber baby:
    the transitions are
    optional,
    funky cloud patterns
    dissipate,
    while the legos
    roam westward;
    we
    in the bleachers
    sing hallelujahs,
    wrangle dreamcatchers,
    can-open
    remaining worm tins:
    frugal Orwellians
    announce
    the bellwethers,
    the fiscal undertows,
    the carefully pruned
    sanctuaries of our
    optimal prose.

  11. What’s really optional these days? Everything has to be done to get to a certain place. Universities: necessary if you want to be successful in most fields. Drug abuse: completely needed to be worthless.

    by Caitlin on 08.18.2009
  12. The homework tonight is optional, class, but I suggest you give it your best attempt.

    Next morning:

So, class, how did the homework go?

    … Uhh…

    Well? Didn’t anyone do it?

    … Uh…

Well that’s a bummer. If you would at least have taken a look at it you would have read, “Any student who completes this assignment will be excused from tomorrow’s pop quiz.”

    by Mel on 08.18.2009
  14. Everything is optional, living, dying, and everything in between. I am lucky to have so many options and choices in life and get so angry and frustrated at myself when I find myself in a pool of apathy and don’t exercise my options.

    by Mandy on 08.18.2009

  18. She strode down the hallway. Suit pressed and crisp, head held high, with her high heels clacking on the marble flooring of the courthouse. Her nerves were raw and frazzled but she vowed to keep them hidden. As she neared the courtroom door she found herself reciting quotes from law school. This was her first case to try on her own. Reaching for the door handle she reminded herself, “Preparation, knowledge and skill are required. Attitude is optional.”

  19. It wasn’t optional that he go with her. He not only cared about his brother’s happiness(which quite frankly, was optional for all Zack cared), he knew life without Bailey would turn Cody Martin insane.

    by Hann on 08.18.2009
  20. Optional means that you have a choice. For instance, it is generally optional to give your middle initial when signing your name. Optional usually is either do it or don’t do it. Choice either yes (positive) or no (negative). This is in opposition to “an option” which is a choice between two or more choices. Optional does not mean that there are not circumstances to your choice. Sometimes there are things that will happen if you choose yes or no (to do or not).

    by Snoogie on 08.18.2009
  21. You don’t have to go. You know that it is your choice. But is it? Is it really an option?

  26. Monica silently ran through a number of ways she could get out of this if she tried — and if she wanted to. Her coach had called the test optional, but the thought of passing up on it made her ears burn with guilt. And so, after a deep breath, she quieted her worry and picked up the brick.

  27. ‘Clothing is not optional’ Was what I was greeted with. It’s a shame though, I would have liked to go back there.

  30. Everyone has an option in life. There are rare moments when there is no option. Whether its what friends you spend your time with or whether to end a relationship or not. There is always a choice.

    by Katie on 08.18.2009
  31. It was the choice of the handmaid in the end to become on. She knew the consequences if she didn’t, and she knew the consequences if she did. So the choice rested within her palm and no other. It was optional in the sense that she made a deliberate decision, but it was forced when realizing that the flip side of the coin was a picture of the reaper.

  32. Listening to them is optional, but I can’t help but remember what they say. I can’t undo it. It pisses me off so much and I want to be alone and get rid of everything in my head and start over. It’s scary like that. I don’t even know what’s scary anymore. I’m pretty sure I’m also not making sense. What the heck, just leave me alone. That is not an option.

    by Annie on 08.18.2009

  35. Clothing shoud never have been optional in Ed’s mind. In fact, clothing should always be mandatory and required for anywhere that was not your own private shower. Oh why did he have to pull the literal short straw and end up being the ‘patron’ at this cesspool. He didn’t een enjoy stippers. He thought they were kind of gross.

  36. Im realizing more and more in life is that the older you get the less optional things become. Responsibilities take over the ability of having things be truly optional. A lot of things that I considered optional in my youth, like having a job or supporting myself are no longer optional because no one can do that for me. I can only do.

    by Amberly on 01.01.1970
  37. I remember going there, that one day. It was a random place with a random name and truthfully, I have no idea what drew me there.

We do these things sometimes. Humans are innately attracted to things that deviate from their norm and sometimes, in these endeavors, we find things that lead us to our true paths.

    by Gakusei on 01.01.1970
  38. I made it the day that my wedding was going to be. It was borrowed, blue, old, new, the whole nine yards. I wish it could have been nicer. Everything about that time was either-or, and I couldn’t choose exactly. My mother, my sister, my fiancee- I was pushed and pulled and I don’t know where it went. Remembering is optional, though.

    by I.D on 01.01.1970
  39. “It’s optional” she said, smiling evilly.
“You can back out… but then I win.”
“But-” I start, but she cuts me off.
    “No buts. Yes or no?”

    by Lutie on 01.01.1970
  40. … you must wager. It is not optional. You are embarked. Which will you choose then? Let us see. Since you must choose, let us see which interests you least. You have two things to lose, the true and the good; and two things to stake, your reason and your will, your knowledge and your happiness ….
