  1. one half of a dozen is six. half has 4 alphabets. the word half is cool. there exists extreme coolness in the word half. half is like whole except less, and i know that is not saying much. the word half must depend on another number in order to reveal its true value.

  2. I heard his heavy breathing. I saw his back, hunched over in pain, his hands holding his face.
I saw him slowly turn to me and look at me…
With what should have been an entire face.
But instead it was cut in half, one side nearly perfect with its contorting pain, the other a gnarled mess of blood and tendons.

    Two-Face.

  3. She’s here, living, breathing–but it doesn’t always seem like it. Her mind’s swimming half of the time; whether it dwells on fictional romance or make-believe worlds. She doesn’t really mind, though. Maybe it has always been her way to escape.

  4. half of the world is looking for something and the other half is crying over losing something. We are all right here and yet none of us exist in this present moment. Half is an interesting word it means neither full nor empty. It is neither yet it is both. Half is the interface between all and nothing, a thin edge where we exist.

  5. Half

Somehow, this reminded me of a book, that has nothing to do with this word. It’s called “Six is So Much Less Than Seven.

For some reason, I thought of loss when I saw this word today. Not in a glass half empty kind of way, because that’s half of the same liquid. That’s about quantity, not about completion. Not about different halves that are lacking other parts needed to be whole. A whole heart, a whole soul, a whole unit… I don’t think singleness is sad. A single person is still whole. But half of something that is lacking another part to form its whole…. that’s what I felt today when I saw this word. “Half.” “Not complete.” Something that’s missing. I felt loss.

  7. The field was half full. Someone had picked and eaten all the aubergines. James looked crestfallen. all his hard work was gone. There were only a few left. He would never be able to make enough money now to save hannah from the insane wizard. If only he could make the ones he had bigger. Super aubergines…the size of houses.

  8. Of the whole. Only a part of it, not getting the complete story. Hidden evidence, mystery, where’s the body. Murder, shouting murder, shouting fire, in the theater. And you never knew who the suspect was because she was wearing gloves, jeweled ones. Fine satin, back rooms, absinthe bottles, and spinning fairies. And there are legends of concealment, secret societies.

  9. half-dead like a flower in winter, the girls want to pretend to be half-dead, to haunt like ghosts, deep in the woods they have a realm of tragedy and bury their limpid bodies in the honey brown dirt, discarded flowers, covering their dreams with soil, a palace of soil to hide them from the beast.

  10. Half, half it is not a whole but it is half way there. 1 over 2 is another example of a half. Six months is half of a year.

  11. You don’t know the half of it. I split my character into two people. Then I killed off one of them, so now I’m left with half a person. There is just a gossamer separation between fantasy and reality. It is very hard. To be half a person.

  16. Today I saw half a glass of milk on my kitchen counter. Half full or half empty? Everyone uses that question so blandly as a trick to make someone think they are opptomistic or negative. I’m opptomistic, and I say ‘half empty’. That’s why I drank the milk and made sure that whoever put that God damn cup there knew that they had made me think so hard I nearly went off Facebook for a moment! The nerve…

  17. Half a second ago, I was thinking of you.
Half a minute ago, still you.
Half an hour ago, I wondered where I went wrong. Where could I have saved you?
Half a day ago, I was crying. I’d messed up. You’d slipped between my fingers.
And half a week ago, you were still here. Just within grasp. As much as you ever would be, anyway.

  18. the glass is half full, but not all the time. I like to think that my heart is also half full of love, but when will the other half become full? There is half a brain in my head, and I have half the mind to cut it down by half again simply by putting poisonous toxins into my body. Is this a bad thing?

  19. Most days, I felt I was only half a person; not fully present in a world I did not understand. I spent far too much time with myself, contemplating the wonders and mysteries of a universe in a culture which did not appreciate them. This left little room for relationships or average pursuits.

  21. Some people see the cup half full, some see it half empty. This furthers the question, is perception really everything? A situation comes about and some fall to pieces while others handle it without hesitation, thinking its not big thing. Someone’s life could very so greatly from anothers, and it’s not because of the job they have or whether or not they’re married. Its all due to perception. So, is the glass half full, half empty….or something else? What do you see?

    by Kelsey hill on 09.30.2011
  22. It was empty, but only half. The cup was filled with what I thought was bliss, but only was it filled with ignorance.

  23. Half is good or bad. Half of something good is good. Half of something bad is usually bad. Half is what you make of it. Remember the glass? Is it half full or half empty? It’s always full, actually.

  24. Half empty or half full? I guess that depends on if the cup was full or empty when you started. If the cup was full and you poured out half of the liquid then it would be half empty because that is the goal you are working toward if the cup is empty and you pour liquid into it then the cup would be half full because full is the goal you are working toward.

  25. It’s only half a mile away is what Billy Joel says. But my world is a lot farther than that…unfortunately. I would love to be there, to see this pain simmer, but it’s going nowhere. Only half a mile until more walls, only half an hour til more class.

  26. is the glass half full o half empty? it depends on how full the glass was when you started. if it was already full then it would be half emptif you dumped the glass out. if it was empty and you filled it up then it would be half full

  27. Half my life is a piece of beautiful song that wanted to enter into your heart through your ears …half is just so beautiful ’cause it gives reasons to exist for the other half. Half will be life without you …2 halves like us make a full!

  28. is the glass half empty or is the glass half full? the choice is always yours but sometimes it doesn’t always feel in your control. but it always is. a half moon to look upon the night sky while sharing two halves of a sandwhich with the one you love is definitely a glass half full situation.

  29. Half full half empty. They say it depends how you look at things, which is pretty self evident. All about your perspective in the end. They….that all seeing all knowing out there for anybody wisdom, old wives tales, the things your mother said that you dismissed, because everyone under 25 knows that anyone over 25 is actually senile…..

  35. The Snickers bar was bitten in half by the tiger that wore a vulture hat. It was a hat made from vultures for vultures because the vulture society were canniblas, as opposed to cannibals because they were boring cannibals. The tiger was only a shoplifter of the vulture convenience stores.

  36. Half of the world is so boring I could cry. It feels like I’m drowning in sorrow and pain, lots and lots of people are dying out there while I’m sitting here writing stuff about one single word I saw on a screen for no particular reason.

  37. The glass of orange juice emptied itself to the point where it was eaxactly either half full or half empty. Then it filled the rest of itself with earwax from a badger that had a German accent and was Manfred von Karma’s idol in Christmas of 1982 when polar bears ate all the German cakes.

  38. Cybersi ate the other half of the pancakes, which by this point were growing mushrooms, so she ended up accidentally high, and then noticed that the x was gone from her name. Then the mailbox screamed and ate a rat. The rat was disappointed because it wanted to be eaten by a mailbox that was a different color.

  40. I ate half a Celebi for lunch the other day. It was that shiny Celebi in the Lost Silver creepypasta. That’s why it’s a half. But that’s not quite it. You see, I barfed up the half, but it didn’t want it anymore because Giygas was possessing the barf and he made it rape the table.
