  13. The fluorescent light bounced off the dimly sparkling sidewalks, shimmered off a silver bracelet or wristwatch worn by a wealthier person. It was not uncommon to see the lords and ladies strolling through streets in large entourages at this time at night, but to see a solitary man in a large overcoat alone was by all means strange. They added color to everything I had to write about and when I would look back on them to study, things seemed slightly less dreary because there was color on the page and things didn’t seem so bad just for that reason.
