  1. The flashlight in the corner didn’t work, and hadn’t for years. Didn’t stop me from picking it up and fiddling with it, messing with the batteries like a few shakes and a couple of tricks half-remembered from when battery preservation on the school bus was paramound would revive the yellow tube to glowing life again. As my attempts were unscucessful, the basement remained shrouded in darkness.

  4. the flashlight brings light to those of many in homes with no electricity and is useful when camping because then you can see and not fall over tree roots like i did at camp a couple years back. I also like playing with them and pretending to be an explorer when I’m being childish and exploring caves in my bedcovers. Oh no, time’s up.

  5. spongebob flashlights… children love them. but my son took the little slide of spongebob and put it down the heat hole at grandma nutsy’s house. the next time we went there, he cried because it was gone. one time, my dog, dutch ran away… i had to go find him because i love him. <3 anyway, i had only one flashlight, and it was SOOOO small. so i went to the cemetary, and i looked for him. the flashlight barely lit anything up, and it was creepy. that cemetary is so old…

  8. wait, so is flashlight the only word on one word? Like i can’t do it again? I thought this would light the way to creative inspiration but instead, like a light with no batteries, I’m left disappointed and in the dark.

Like a diamond shining in a heap of coal it struck me, the peanut butter. the light reflected of the plastic bottle like an aura of glorious salvation.

  10. the lights went out. sleeping in the hallway i didn’t notice until someone had waved a bright light past my face. there were tons of people more than i realized were living or staying here. i stood up and followed them out of the building. and before you know it. i heard shots. gun shots. people crying, screaming. BANG! “sunnuva-” i’d been shot. taken out by nothing i could see. unruly.

  13. i had a flashlight once when i was small it needed batteries but i didnt have them so i cried and my grandpa saw that and he went to the store to buy some and bring them to me so i could play with my new flashligh. I love my grandpa and my other grandpa … they were amazing.

  14. she held the flashlight under her chin, shining it upwards. ghost stories were her favorite during camp outs because she had a reason to hold his hands, but this time, this time he was no longer there to hold his hand. he was no longer part of her life. and having him their had been painful because he always had let her down, but not having him there, that was more painful.

  34. we have this little flashlight that you shake… it doesn’t take batteries. I guess it’s for emergencies. My son dismantles that thing all of the time. The last time he took it apart, I couldn’t get it to work again. Guess it’s a good for nothing shakable flashlight now.
