  1. one day my mom told me that i was being too general in my requests. i was quite upset and told her that i thought i embellished my statements with enough details to be understood properly. she laughed and smacked me and said that i still have a long way to go before i’m a writer. tear drop tear drop.

  2. Make more interesting and special esp. if it is not true.

  3. The coat was just lying there. It hadn’t been touched in years just shoved to the back of the closet. It was covered in fake jewels that had been dulled, picked at and broken.

  4. To embellish is something I would not know, unfortunately I don’t know this word or use it well enough to write anything that makes sense about it other than this. I imagine it means to take a lot of.

  5. Darling, I have something to confess. When I first met you, I was pretty sure you could do something with my life. And you did. Thank you. You really embellished my life.

  6. We are told not to embellish our writing, to keep things plain, simple, and understandable.

The problem is that fiction is not the same thing as a business letter, and writing everything at a 6th grade level hardly qualifies as creating art.

But who are we to say? We’re just writers, not professors.

  7. The gown was embellished with thousands of tiny jewels; it was something only royalty would’ve worn. I put it back down onto the ash covered ground, “seems like such a waste…” I think to myself as I look out over the now charcoal-black valley.

  8. The best truth is ripe with embellishment
    It makes the story
    Then we are the best
    They were the coolest
    It was the most monstrous
We witnessed the most epic event

  9. Embellish? I’m thinking of a million gold buttons, shining on a sweater. On a pretty little girl, seen by a pretty little boy. That’s all. Good day!

  10. I looked upon her pretty face,
Thought I that she could see me now,
For all I’m worth and all I seek,
Apart a week, too long; I see
    The spot that did embellish,
    The side of her cheek.

  11. I wish I was able to write better. It would be nice. I mean, OK, I can explain myself: explain what I want to say, convey the meaning I’m thinking about. But writing should be more than this. I’d like to be able to “embellish” my writing, add some spice to the recipe, if you know what I mean (now i sound like ACDC). Well, I’m not saying I’d like to write like a poet, that would be too much ;)
    Just something more than…this.

  12. i never know if it’s really me who doesn’t like an embellished house over christmas or only my mom. at the same time, it makes me question what else is really me. and what isn’t

  14. You embellish me. I embellish you. We embellish each other.

  15. Are you sure you want to do this? Are you sure you want to ruin your body? Are you sure want to embellish your skin with something that can’t be undone? This is something that will last forever, an embellishment that cannot be undone.

  16. It is what I do when I am at the bar…friends, music and – a story. It is to make people listen, laugh, appreciate and relate and it’s what I do best. The girl tripped. No. It is the girl free fell down ten flights of stairs with nary a bump.

  17. embellish. rhymes with hellish. I’m not sure what embellish means; however I feel as if it is related to branding someone– embellishing upon them. As maybe the devil does to its minions and god does to its angels.

  18. So that’s not exactly how it happened. But I needed to impress them and we were in middle school. Telling them that I lost my virginity outside a public library would do that. I mean it was not exactly a lie. Okay it was, but it was middle school. We’ve all done worse things.

  19. Well, in that story I told him I may have embellished the truth a bit. Just a bit. I mean, honestly, you’d do the exact same thing. Really? You thought I was just gonna straight-up tell him exactly what I did? Yeah, no, not gonna happen. That’s just a weird, silly thing to do and I’m not doing it.

  20. She embellished heavily on the story. A wyrm became a 20 foot tall dragon with a wing span twice its length. Her drab farm hand was now a devilishly handsome prince and the awkward hug and twenty pounds became a night of love followed by a tragic separation. Her audience enjoyed it well enough, but she was beginning to feel like a real charlatan.

  21. The tiara was embellished with gemstones; encrusted with rubies, sapphires and emeralds. The legend goes, that is, because it was said that whoever sees it will vanish and never be found again.

  22. it stood out of his military style jacket buttons. it was an bird of some sort… perhaps an eagle. it made sense for his clothing to have images of predators on them… He was a bad man… and that embellish only emphasised it.

  23. To embellish is to mar the original beauty. You embellish life so it appears to hold beauty, but instead it is a form of lies meant to make people happier with life.

  24. The embellishments on her dress went from the bustier to the floor.. the long white gown flowed in waves down to her feet. As she walked down the aisle i could only imagine how truly enchanting it must feel to be the most coveted person in the room; a bride-to-be.

  25. eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, foundation. Two gold earrings, four rings, a diamond, ruby, emerald, sapphire. Three necklaces, a gucci hand bag. Lui Vuitton dress, Jimmy choo shoes. Yet when she looked in the mirror, all she saw was decorated loneliness.

  27. i tend to embellish details in my stories.
but i can’t help that your eyes shimmer like no one else’s,
    like diamonds in the sky on a somewhat hazy evening;
somehow still sparkling despite the clouds covering them.
    incomparably spectacular,
    dazzling,
    shimmering,
    like no one else’s.
i may embellish some details but
    they feel so real.

Enjoy nature’s embellishments, like dew on leaves, the sun in your face, and the stars…

  36. Late-summer storms often erupt across the lake—the low clouds can quickly ferment into a sudden charcoal brew. High winds and steady, cyclical waves may toss the water out of its banks. Occasional threads of lightning can tear through the dark sky and illuminate our yards in that white, alien rigor. We may sit in seance over a crackling weather radio, might worry about the brackish, ever-encroaching lake, but our candle-encircled kitchens will flicker safe around us like greasy makeshift stars.

  37. She covered the glass mason jar with glue and rolled it in the beads. She placed the lightning bugs inside, and they would glow red and green for mama.

  38. I used to define beauty as the stars in the skies
Until I saw their reflection, glimmering in your eyes.

  39. Dear jebus is this all this place has. I don’t like the word embellish. Give me some time, I don’t know what to do. I can’t even think about the word ’embellish’. It sounds like a weirdly nice way to say fat. I don’t know, don’t ask. I just have a weird track of mind sometimes. Anyways, you’re pretty much going to have to deal with me not saying anything productive. Yup. Like usual. Oh well.

  40. You are wearing three big, huge earings. I don’t know why you’re freaking wearing all of that. It’s silly. But you are, and I can tell you’re really enjoying yourself. It’s nice and small, simple, something. I don’t know. I just can tell that you’re happy. Why the hell do we have to do all these things, anyway? Can’t we just sit here and talk? But you don’t like talking, you like to dance and sing and stuff.
