  6. there was an insane amount of elephants eating the purple cabbage. I walked into the kitchen and said, “Goddamnit, Andre, not a fucking again!” I knew he’d forgotten to close the kitchen door. Every time he does this, I come home and I find some kind of a mess he made. Sometimes the mess is big and sometimes the mess is small. But it is always something that I have to clean up. Like the time the Brazilian came to my place and ate all the cheese.

  15. This is the stuff that pulses its way through my veins. It flits and flurries, it leaps and crashes around my life. And the further away I get from a life centered around dance, the unhappier I get.

  17. Sometimes you gotta just feel like moving your butt off and dance till you drop. Knowing this it will always be an advantage to be dancing among others. You’ll be the alpha mail or girl within your peer group that knows all the moves.

  18. I flung my arms out in front of me. Clumsily of course, my aim could be for gracefulness but try as i might, i am naturally disposed to be clumsy. II spun around on the tips of my toes, dancing with the music in my mind. And as soon as it had begun, it was over. My ankles collided with a solid stone surface and i teetered precariously, my eyes opening to water lying in front of me, soon to be on me as my eminent and wholly unavoidable disaster surged into its epic conclusion. I soon emerged, blinking back dirty fountain water, my hair a sodden mess, and my face a red hue of minor embarrassment. Alone in awkward silence until a blur of high paced, war cry yelling, youth plummeted in next to me, ecstatically splashing until he collapsed into an exhausted heap of wet five year old boy, all grins and laughter.

  19. Let the spirit dance. It is a hard thing to do considering we are so full of rules and regulations, but that is one of the secrets and truths to life. So dance and be free, let yourself just be.

  22. they danced and danced on the moonlit shore. they danced and danced until they could dance no more. and then they swam. they ran and jumped and splashed in the ocean. they had no worries in the world, just for that one pure moment.

    by Stella on 01.19.2009
  24. sliding sensuously under the moonlight, writhing back and forth as the tide flows. losing oneself in the music and getting lost in time. slippery, like oil, gleaming in the night.

  25. Dance, dance, dance. The music plays, it’s in my ears. I see you. You’re dancing to the music. Dance with me. Dance, dance, dance.

    by Adrianna on 01.19.2009
  26. I have no idea. Dancing might as well be an extraterrestrial concept, because it is inscrutable to me. How does one coordinate one’s arms and legs rhythmically in time with music? Makes no sense.

    by cw on 01.19.2009
  27. I used to dance. It was a free-flowing, effortless, surreal dance. It was a dance that came naturally to me – it never had to be forced. Somewhere along the way I have lost my dance. I have missplaced it. Accidentally? On purpose? I’ll never know.

  30. I love dancing but sometimes I get nervous dancing around other people. It depends on the person really though. I guess I love dancing with close friends to some upbeat music that I’m used to but I never really got into the whole school dance things. Dancing at home without anyone around though, that’s a different story. I love that.

    day in day out
original thought hasn’t got room in someone elses thoughts. entirely bewildered at the words that spew out so easily. frustrated at how difficult it is for the words to even fall out

  32. Dancing is probably one of the things I would love to do most, but will probably never learn to do correctly. I love the way people look when their dancing good. It just seems as though they’re lost and are paying no attention to anything other than the other person.

  33. why does everyone seem to believe that dancing is something to be proud of. i do not have rhythm and i am looked down upon for this. yet the clown in the other side of the room the one who mistreats women and uses them for pleasure is deemed godlike

    by christian on 01.19.2009
  34. It’s not so much about the moves but about the way you feel when you dance. It’s actually much better to forget about the technicalities of it and think about what the music is doing to you to make you want to dance.

Ask yourself: why do you feel like dancing?

  36. Dancing is something I always wished I could do. I love dancing shows. It makes me sad though, that I gave up dancing when I was really little just because I didn’t like the long practice hours. I think it would have been worth it now, and I’d love to have kept to it. The only thing keeping me from starting up again is that I’m afraid to look stupid and incompetent in front of experienced dancers.
