  28. Growing up as the big brother, I but just one year older than my younger sister. We always wanted a puppy, but our parents refused. At about 5 and 6, she and I would play with stuffed animals, making believe in our hearts that they filled the hole that not having a actual pet made. But, it was not enough, and we would take turns crouching and letting the other hold the leash, being the best friend that we naively thought we never had while we were there next to one another all along.

  30. The teacher had this peculiar motion… It was halfway between a crouch and a jump, almost like he was a rigid frog, hopping from spot to spot. He only ever acted like this when his coffee was cold and his hair far too tussled to be considered conscientious. His brow would furrow, he’d become cynical and then he’d just crouch… and jump. It was almost like he was trying to shake the bad life out of him. The students didn’t really know what to make of it, they just thought he was crazy. They just weren’t old enough yet, but even then, they were developing their own unique motions and methods of filtering out the bad… Soon enough, they’d just be like him. Although hopefully the rigid frog trait would remain insular. Whenever my coffee gets cold, he appears before me, and what a horrifying vision it is. A man who has lost his way so completely.
