  2. Folded up pieces of paper. Woops, hope that wasn’t important, because now it has a circular coffee stain. Oh, oh but the coffee table is just fine.

  3. roller coaster
    the fastest rides ever
    coasting through, jazzing its way
    spinning, tumbling
    screaming, loops
    rush of air
    stomach drops
    frenzy
the expected hush as we go uphill
    fast fast fast
    dooooooown
    penetrating through
    pummeling, plunging
    smaller ones
    then, full halt. fullstop.

  4. I put my drink down on the coaster. I do not want to hurt the wood. It is a deep oak, crafted in the mountainous forests of Ukraine, or so my wife says. Does she realize the ring from my glass may just remind the wood of the years it spent growing beneath the unencumbered stars, or would she rather it not remember, and focus instead on its bland, constructed state, with nothing above it but the sychophantic twinkle of a chandelier?

  6. Roller coasters are something I really enjoy. They are fast, exciting, and you always spend those good moments with other people. I like to turn around when I’m taking one, to watch the other people faces, to watch them smile and just really enjoy life. That’s something you can’t see too much these days.

    by HÂvard Fandrem on 04.15.2010
  7. this what you put your drink on so that the condensation does not seep into the surface you have set your drink on. In other news, a coaster is someone who simply floats along in life, in activities, in work, etc. They put in no real effort.

  8. don’t leave a mark, or a stain of where you’ve been. a divisive barrier, protecting virgin surface.

  9. i had a coaster once, it was pretty neat. I slightly oblonged shape with a round button in the shape of a football at the square end of the coaster. The bottom was rounded off to a point and the grey cheeks that protruded from the mouth of the gullet.

    by Jesse Wilson on 04.15.2010
  10. I placed the white mug on the coaster. The dark black coffee swirled around the basin of the cup. Strong and caffinated, the way it ought to be. When I picked up the mug again, it left a dark ring on the coaster: a reminder of the dark fuel that had recently rested upon it.

  11. coaster.. coaster cups.. remind me of those fancy ones my mother has.. they come out only on special occasions.. I remember being fascinated by them when someone brought them as a gift on their way back from Australia.. ahh..

  12. up and down twist and turns of my life shaking me and turning me upside down without hesitation we drop and climb and leave ourselves breathless in the wake of the adrenaline pumping through us. We are speechless for just a moment, before we scream.

    by Mike on 04.15.2010
  13. The mug lay on the coaster, sweating little beads of water onto it. It was a stolen coaster, one of those ones from a mexican restaurant that has a little design of the place it was stolen from. It wasn’t even well-done. It looked like it had been made by a retarded penguin on acid one day as it flailed around, rubbing paint over words that didn’t quite fit together.

    by Sam on 04.15.2010
  14. A few months ago, we bought coasters from Anthropologie. Being that they are (unfortunately) the only things I have from Anthropologie, I always use them while drinking tea, to feel pompous and upper class vintage.

  15. Coasters. It seems like everyone is getting this word. I like rollercoasters. They used to scare me as a kid but then I grew a pair and realized that cheating death at 80 MPH is quite a bit of fun. I can’t wait until the next time I get to ride one.

    by Jeremy on 04.15.2010
  16. I’ve never really been on a roller coaster. The praying mantis sounds like ridiculous fun. But terrifying all at the same time. Quite terrible. I wonder what one would be like during a zombie outbreak. Oh, there’s left for dead 2 on the tv right now, speaking of. Coasters are also those weird little things you can put cups on.

    by Yans on 04.15.2010
  17. coasters are not for glasses only, lack of coasters make full home decor useless. You need coasters to survive. Works of art made of coasters can be seen from space.

    by Flave on 04.15.2010
  18. Is it a space you place your cup or someone who takes the easy way out? Either way, I think its the padding of our society. We don’t need either, so move over and make room for those of us who aren’t afraid to leave circular-shaped stains on the furniture of our lives.

  19. Coasterís are the tableís shield against the impossibly strong powers of condensation released by the ever aggressive cool drink. The powerís of condensation can warp even the strongest of woods into a pile of wet paper. Oh without the coaster, where would we be?

  20. The roller coaster twisted and turned, seemingly nonstop. Finally, it reached the hill and climbed, ever so slowly, to the peak. Then it shot horrendously fast towards the ground. It was almost like a bad relationship……

    She woke with a gasp.

  21. the roller coaster of doom was set to start its tragic plunge into the unforeseen depths of cotton canyon. the riders believed it to be just like the other roller coasters they had ridden that day, but alas it was not. no matter what they did now, they were strapping in to their doom.

  22. Hmm coaster, this reminds me of the coasters my father had when I was little. They were made out of cork, which reminds me that my dog used to go bannas when it would hear a bottle of wine pop, because we’;toss it the cork. that dog died a long time ago, we have a new one now though….yep. :D

  23. There was a coaster on the table, one made of cork and bamboo. It had sat on that table for years, collecting dust, never being used. it was strange this coaster because it held tiny rings of silver between the bamboo lines. It was beautiful, it was unique. It was Maria. Maria had bought it in Cuba and it was something she held dear to her heart: the silver took her through the rough times in life. And one day, she put a cup on the coaster. The end had finally come at last.

  24. I was riding in the front with my Uncle, and we roll down the ramps and plateaus like scared children. I am a scared child, and he is the grown child. We ride together while the rest of the family waits, not in line, but next to the cart selling slushies and hot dogs. We are the black sheep, but we are coasting.

    by Linnie Greene on 04.15.2010
  25. there is a drink sitting on the coaster my great-grandmother crocheted. she used to give these out as gifts…now that she’s gone, I remember her everyday by placing a sweating glass on something beautiful she crafted with her weathered hands.

  26. Coasters. Up and down. Rickety. Fear of shattering and falling apart and splattering like so much gore on the ground below.

Coasters. Noun. Denizens of coastal or beach regions.

Coasters. Little things on tables. Subject of bitching and moaning about little white rings that appear if they are not used.

Coasters. Vehicles, generally automobiles, in neutral.

    Coasters.

  36. a ring of liquid was left by the glass, its blood red colour stained the smooth wooden surface. “I should have used a coaster.” she sighed and took another sip.

  37. I really enjoy coasters, although I hardly use them. We’ve got some nice coasters at my house. They have roosters on them. My mother loved roosters. But now she’s passed away. I’ll always love roosters just like she always did. Any time I see anything with a rooster, I think of her.

    by Sarah on 04.15.2010
  38. Roller coasters are amusing. I remember the first time I went on a HUUUGE roller coaster at the amusment park. I ended up hurting my foot really badly, and now i have permanent foot damage. I guess I don’t really like roller coasters as much as I thought I did.
