Coaster, how glorious, the means by which I prevent my wooden coffee table from enduring any water damage. Such a good feeling to be able to set your cold beverages down worry free on the table, and simply go about your bussiness.

The coaster had so much sweat inside it’s rim from the iced tea glass, that it overflowed onto the table letting it slide across the table and onto the floor.

It made a soft, corky thud as it slapped against the faux wood of the cheap coffee table. I set my cup on top of it, watching the steam eddying out from the brownish liquid before dissipating into the air of my living room.

I have these wonderful coasters that my parents had received as a wedding gift over 60 years ago. They are brushed aluminum with a debossed design of flowers—four in a set with their own hold. My mom thinks they’re out of fashion, but I love having them in my house as a constant reminder of my childhood home.

There was a roller coaster ride that completely and totally wigged out Amber. “I can’t do this…” she thought. When she whipped her head from side to side, the coaster stopped, and reversed? Before she knew it, she was flying through the air, dead.
