  1. the century is one hundred years. its a word that means 100 and is part of loads of other words. I use it in Maths lessons to illustrate to year 5 kids about its use elsewhere to help them remember it means 100… like in centurion and cent in money. they like the analogy. it works for them. its a very long time. not many of us will live that long, and so much can change in 100 years. look at the last century. what has happened in the development of the human race in that time.. its amazing. so much has changed for so many culture across the world. and yet for many they have not benefited from the developments… maybe have even suffered because of them. how many cultures/ tribes have been wiped out or disturbed by our forward development?

  2. Well the past century has been a limitless one in terms of human achievment and endeavour. However we must not forget how fucked up it has also been…I mean the holocaust? Come on…We have everything to thank the 20th century for but it is also so full of shame.

Is any century better though? Just a 100 years of shit and piss.

    by Dean George on 01.01.1970
  3. Time of the century. Man of the century. Woman of the century. What does it mean to us? It’s all subjective. Why should they be the person of the century? What did they do? Who did they help? What did they achieve? I would love to see responses to this from the general public. The people of the century are the ones that help others. As many as they can, or as few as they can. As long as they can help.

    by Duskwuffie on 01.01.1970
  4. to live a century, and think of what happens. That in the previous one, more happened, developed than in the one before. expoentially so. Will I live to see the end of this one. WILL I GET MY FLYING CAR? Or jetpack. I could be fine with a jetpack.

    by margo stern on 01.01.1970
  5. Damn. I think it might take that long to figure out my life.

    by Chaseburgala on 01.01.1970
  6. a century is a long time. it’s 100 years. that’s how old lots of old people are. i wonder if i’ll live to be that old. i don’t really want to, if it means i won’t be able to do anything fun or take care of myself. if i wet the bed and spend all my time sitting in a wheel chair. i’d rather die younger (but not young) doing something i love or at least having a good time.

    by rinn on 01.01.1970
  7. The turn of the century has passed. I won’t live until the next century. I’ll be long gone. Why have we catoragorized time like this? time doesn’t exist, it only does because we named it.

    by Eddie on 01.01.1970
  8. one hundred years, a long time for humanity, but no time at all for everything else.

    by equestrian on 01.01.1970
  9. old people.

  10. this is a time of poeple doing what they want to do and living only in this century. they dont worry about what is to come and what their actions do to the future for everyone else. there is no thinking ahead and i dont want to be stuck like that with nothing to look forward to.

    by erica thomas on 01.01.1970
  11. this the century, when i move to the penatentury, i’ll steal a pie i’ll break a fence, i’ll do those things that, at the time, make sense, this is the century

    by stephen T. on 01.01.1970
  12. change within a century. an entire society brought to shambles within this time and a change of consciousness brought about. a new zeitgeist has formed and there is a new mindset, an ignorant one, that has been created by higher powers.

    by kevin potter on 01.01.1970
  13. A century is defined as one hundred years. I can’t think of anything else to write, so I will talk about trains. What are your favorite kinds? I personally think subways are pretty cool. I mean the restaurant, with all of the subs and stuff. And hot girls work there too. :)
Anyway, century sort of sounds like centaur. Yeppers, it does. And centaur sort of sounds like century. No shit, I guess. Hmm, well, it appears that time is running out, so, good bye.

    by Street Soccer on 01.01.1970

  15. 100 years is a long time. My great grandmother lived to be a century old. The stories she would tell us were absolutely amazing. So much had changed over the century. I loved sitting next to her and listening to everything she had to say about the changes.

    by Rocio on 01.01.1970
  16. A century is a hundred years. I am taking my sweet time. My bookmarks are Google, Meebo, Club Penguin, YouTube, One Plus You, Pandora Radio, Zefrank, Arms, Sketch Swap, Grid 16, One Word, Dysan, and My Jellybean, all of which I stumbled upon except for the first four. This is quite an amazing website…wow, gotta fly. Ciao.

  17. A century is clearly 100 years. A century is a term used in cricket to describe the achievement of making 100 runs. I’d love to live to be a century old. I’d be so old and droopy, but it’d rule pretty hard telling young kids to shut up ’cause you’ve been around for 100 years and back in your day you were way cooler than they are. That’d be rad.

    by Sam Trowbridge on 01.01.1970
  18. One hundred years. Its a long time, and the name of a car. I think a Buick. Buicks are being phased out since they closed Buick City in Flint. That place is terrible now. They sell videos of the demolition in the mall, I saw a man watching it crying. I won’t live a century, probably. Some people do, but its rare.

    by Grant Greene on 01.01.1970
  19. In a century, what will the world be like? A century ago, there wasn’t this technology, or these kinds of weapons. Most of all, there wasn’t us. The world was, in ways, a better place, and at the same time, a worse one. In another century, what will it be like? What will we develop into? Will we touch humanity, or lose it?

  21. Throughout the past century, people have evolved from one archetype to the next in a continuous, unbreakable cycle. This cycle tends to repeats itself when the time is right.

    by Amy Bucknam on 01.01.1970
  22. a century of what– hope? disillusionment? A century, 100 years. No one , almost no one gets that, why do we yearn for what we can never have?

I yearn for human connection. The irony is that I already have it, but don’t make it work. Why? because we are suspicious…….

    by The Dano on 01.01.1970
  23. Last century was much better than this one. We got the vote last century. What are we getting now? Overworked and still no respect.

    by moihaha on 01.01.1970
  24. its the end of the century…of the world as we know it. 100 years and i’ll be dead and gone, and no one will remember me. And so it is. In that amount of time, I will return to the earth. What is left and the end of the century?

    by darthmistressv on 01.01.1970
  25. Century. 100 years, if I’m not mistaking. Before I was born. Before you were born as well. Before parents and grandparents. Before any pet remembered. Century; a time long past. Century; a time that will never be again.

by Michael A McGinnity on 01.01.1970
  26. In a few centuries, the ENglish languagwe will be totally different. Whether we like it or not, text messages and IM’s are shaping our language, and in the future, vocabulary will be much different. The language will still be considered “English” but it will have evolved just as dramatically, if not more so as it has from previous centuries.

    by Deeanna on 01.01.1970
  27. is how long? ten years? on hgundred? I don’t really know and to tell you the truth, I don’t care. Time has sort of escaped me. Especailly years. I can’t remember what year this or that happened. I’m not even sure what year I graduated. AND the time that matters the most is this very moment Wow that was the longest damn sixty seconds EVER. I think they’re lying. That felt more like five minutes or sumthin. Geez Hello second # 59!

    by lianne on 01.01.1970
  28. A century is more like a blink in time. In the bigger scope of things,it’s tiny. I think we think too much of ourselves and our time.

    by Levity on 01.01.1970
  29. this century, one of so much change. next one… one of control. that’s all i have to say about that.

    by Duxington on 01.01.1970
  30. the century of a lifetime? maybe, maybe not. i wasn’t around in the 1800s to tell you honestly. a century is 100 years, which seems like forever, but it is a mere blip in the earth’s history spectrum. in 100 years, maybe the earliest fish gained one new cell that would help them evolve into land mammals. who knows?

    by mariel on 01.01.1970
  31. time is irrelevant. what we do and say has probably been said before so why bother? 100 years of time and days spent doing what if we’re heading for the exact same destiny. it’s all a joke to me. what if there is no other side, what i do may go to waste and if there is another side i better make the best of it.

here’s to the next 100 years of my life.

    by hallo on 01.01.1970
  32. cause i was here. on the century. and from this new hemisphere. i can see for years. so where does this leave us. when months grow into a year. and where can you turn to when what’s familiar disappears. routine that brought comfort. where i can shelter some fears. we collapse into moments where it all becomes clear.

by jeremy elder (shape+colour) on 01.01.1970
  33. A century is, what, a decade? No, ten decades. That’s a LOT of time. Think of everything that happened in the United States in one hundred years – the invention of the automobile, the computer; wars were fought; millions of people were born and millions passed away. I can only imagine where the next century will take us.

    by Laura R. on 01.01.1970
  34. a century is 100 years. 1900 to 2000 would be an example of once century. not many people live for an entire century. in fact, only 1 in every 2 billion pepole live to be 114 years old, which is 1.14 centuries. this is a really hard word to write about. oh well. this is fun.

    by tom d on 01.01.1970

    by Kat Peralta on 01.01.1970
  36. It’s the start of a century and unfortunately its on the wrong foot. A few purposeful missteps took us from splendor to shame. That’s what they tell us. But America was as militaristic and corporate in the previous century as we’re led to believe its become now.

by Alex D Miller on 01.01.1970

  38. Wow, that’s a hella long time.
You weren’t alive and you won’t be alive.
It doesn’t even cover your life.
    We’re all so insignificant.
So what are we making all this fuss about?

  40. The century brought an era of unknown peace to the region. Jack ruled wisely over the land of Virtuvia, and was concerned for all who dwelled within his kingdom. He ruled peacebly until the day he died, after which, his daughert, Jackline Evermore, ruled in his stead.
