  5. It wasn’t that long ago that I thought this one would be the last.

She wouldn’t have understood that, too above it all, too aloof to care. Her hair blew in the wind as I watched her dance along the edge of the ocean and I couldn’t help but smile.

All of this wasn’t supposed to be here. Not now. Not so long after the fact.

Her dark hair, her bright smile, her warm embrace.

  7. this century was one of violence and change. Many bad and many good things happened but yet we didn’t find peace or plenty for all men and woman? Why? 2000 years of religion didn’t do it, 200 years of science has yet to do it. Who knows what the next century could possibly bring? Maybe an end to all prejudice and fear? That would be fantastic would it not? Or maybe just plenty for all..that would be good too.

  17. A century is beyond a lifetime. A grouping of years that one dreams to see. So many great things can come from a century with terrible things joining along the way. A century is beautiful, full of enjoyment and wonder. As the greatness evolves evil enters and the century becomes tarnished.

    by Jane Strange on 06.05.2008
  22. I listened to One Word more often than any other programme. I specially enjoyed Paul Blezard’s interviews and Nick Duncart’s (and have forgotten his colleague’s name) film reviews, also Hayley Radford’s arts programme. I really miss One Word. I hope all those who worked on the programme have been able to find fulfilling alternatives and will be able to use their broadcasting talents again.

  24. century. it’s a time that affects the place in our lives. a century ago was just a few years. just a decade, but a century instead.

those times were so simple. so fun and innocent.

our century was without doubt or pain or anger.

    this century is change.

    this century is our place.

    by Corey Long on 06.05.2008
  25. It’s been a century since I’ve seen you. Well, at least, it feels like a century. It’s weird; as the years go by, the days go faster and a year passes in the blink of an eye but when I’m missing you it makes the seconds last an eternity and the days infinity. But a century is well worth the wait if you’re at the end.

    by Anton on 06.05.2008
  26. century. A hundred long arduous years and yet more still stretch before me. Countless centuaries. Countless millenia until I’m not myself anymore but some twisted shell with nothing left to see. Countless years and no one to share them with. No friends. No family. The word ‘immortal’ can be thrown around and it crashes into the centuries and no one understands. No one feels that it hurts more than you could even imagine.

  27. i hope i never live that long.

    by eva xiao on 06.05.2008
  28. It was the end of the century, fin de siecle and all that. then why did she feel so despondent? She should have felt limitless horizons stretching out before her – she still had so long to live. Sh was after all, only 202. She hadn’t even chosen a life mate, nor a calling. But she only saw the years stretching behind her and thought of the waste. There were so many things she could have done, contributred, given and yet she had done none of it. Instead she had read. and read. and read. There were those who would argue that was a noble pursuit – to honor those who had gone before by reading their offerings – validating there efforts. After all, if no one read their books – what was the point of their writing them? She was only up to the Ps.
