  2. I went to Seattle with the Marylhurst Choir to sing for the congregation for some special occasion. Now I don’t remember what the occasion was. I also sang at the installation of an archbishop, which was pretty cool, except the incense was too thick. Both of these events were held in cathedrals. I like better the cathedrals made by nature in the redwoods.

  3. She told us how we got from leaving the trees to walking across othe savannah to building cathedrals.
What we haven’t been told is how we got to the point where we felt we needed cathedrals. That’s the great mystery of our evolution; why do we need an imaginary friend in the sky tell us to be good?

  6. In the night of our speacial day, I couldn’t help but cry. This feeling is too surreal, standing alongside you inside this cathedral, was something I didn’t have planned in this book called ‘My Life’. You caught me by surprise.

  7. I kissed my girl in the cathedral
and it was the most romantic day in my life,
since then I fell in love with her
and till now we are together.

I will never forget that special day,
    because it’s my anniversary

  8. I sat alone in the pew, it total silence. I just sat there. What else could I do? pray? Pray for what? Things weren’t going to get better, and I knew it. God might exist, but he wasn’t listening. No use trying to say other wise.

  9. the open spaces and angels stared back at me as i walked through the cathedral; their judgmental gazes were cold and uncaring, unyielding. it’s as if they were suffocating me.

i wanted to stop to catch my breath, but i knew they’d take me if i did.

  13. i think about church, which makes me think about my grade school that i went to which was catholic. god i hated the uniforms: navy blue pants and a white polo. so generic, so flawed. but cathedral also makes me think of marriages and stuff. i’ve never really thought about marriage, guess i’ve never really thought about cathedrals.

  15. The cathedral loomed on the horizon, glistening in the setting sun.
“That’s the way we need to go,” she stated with confidence. “It just makes sense doesn’t it?”
He nodded, still unsure of his young companion’s obsession with this foreign architecture.

  17. The cathedral has got to be that one plkace I really saw my ex-boyfriend. We had gone over there one afternoon with a couple friend and he knelt down to pray.
The cathedral I talk about is a monumental building in Winnipeg, the structure is grand and makes you feel the presence of a supernatural being.
Our morning walks there were priceless and eccentric

  18. My fiance and I are getting married this July. He is Catholic, and I am not. In order for us to get married in the Catholic church, we must get married in an ACTUAL church building. A cathedral, perhaps. While I think this would be nice, my parents are completely against a Catholic ceremony. I wish some people were more open minded about other religions.

  19. a building filled with religion and art. history. it took many years and many generations to build are a part of humans as much as the written word is because it will last longer.

  20. Gargoyles sat on their perches, their curved eyes watching a single place in the sky for hours upon hours, days upon days, years upon years. Their wings resembled those of bats, their arms were thin yet muscular, like an Olympic swimmer, except bleached white.

  21. The city square was filled with a shuffling moving crowd. They had been there for days. Before dawn the frost had settled and the restlessness was partly to keep warm, partly a raging anger only loosely held in check. They were waiting for him to be sent out.

“Throw him out. He does not belong here.” The speaker stood on the steps, facing the Cathedral. His lone voice rang out sharply above the murmur and the noise that had been gradually rising since dawn broke out with shouts and cries. There would be a resolution today, one way or another.

  22. The cathedral was made of stone. I looked up and saw it’s massiveness hovering over me. I couldn’t believe I was standing in front of such a huge piece of history. It was truly amazing to think that people had been here thousands of years ago and still continued to visit today.

  23. Cathedral ceilings was the most beautiful thing about the house.
The blood stains on the carpet the least.

    by Firemosca on 06.14.2012
  24. “Build a cathedral with the bricks that get thrown at you.”

  25. The cathedral is always tall, dark and horrifying. I can’t think of anything worse than the evils of stony organized religions and the people who operate them for their own vile purposes. They lie to themselves and lie to others as well. Spirituality is ironically a sacred thing and god damn it. That came across as a joke.

  26. At the top of the cathedral, perched a nest in which a small bird was just peeking out of it’s eg. 28. It was a beautiful cathedral- so many intricate designs. The girl’s eyes welled with tears- marriage? How could she be jumping into something so set in stone?? it was terrifying. but the most amazing feeling in the world. she took a deep breathe and entered.

  29. The stained windows of the cathedral broke the sunlight. This August Tuesday was an exceptionally hot one. Not a cloud in the sky. Mosquitoes were everywhere. It was summer and she knew it, was what she thought when entering the cathedral.

  30. Cathedrals are romantic in a way. Aside from all the suffocating incense and priests. They remind one of the grandeur of god, the mystique splendor of our existence. How often we take for granted what we have

  33. She stood there, the toes of her shoes dampened by the puddles on the sidewalk in front of the imposing structure. The steeple was glaring in the sunlight as he approached her, his hands shoved awkwardly in his pockets. Her hair blew across her azure eyes in the slight breeze and she wiped them back off of her face. They said not a word, just stood there wondering why they were here at all.

  34. Rome was the home to the most beautiful cathedral…it holds famous statues of famous people. I loe rome and miss rome. I want to go to a cathedral..they remind me of Italy, which I miss so much. minaccia! why cant i go back? anyways, back to cathedrals. they are a place of worship and the one in naples i went into had the most beautiful murals and high high cielings as high as the sky. I wonder how they built the cathedrals, and how they painted them while up close but it looks great even from far away. people are amazing sometimes…their talents amaze me, yet I feel that we often overlook how much effort people put into these talents. they dont get enough credit. we need to be in awe more these days. we see a painting thats famous but dont even react to it because we have been conditioned to think of it as familiar and ordinary..when in reality everything can be extraordinary and magnficent. ESPECIALLY nature and its beauty

  35. Inside the dank cathedral, two children prayed. In the courtyard along the sinister turrets, a gardener planted roses. Beneath his feet in the basement, a ceremony was starting.

The vicar was dressed in blacks and reds. The deacons all in whites. They would wear the dark stains of those who felt the dagger in the colossal man’s hands.

  36. I go to this church. You go to that church. I am not but you are and that’s alright with me.

  37. A cathedral is a place where people worship. Cathedrals are often beautiful landmarks people visit. There are many historic cathedrals in Europe. People from all different faiths and backgrounds visit them not only because of their beauty and grandeur but because of the historical significance. One well known cathedral is St. Paul’s cathedral. There are many others though too.

  38. I walked inside the building, awestruck. Nowhere had I ever seen a cathedral so large, grand, awe inspiring. The ceilings were incredibly high, and the carvings amazingly intricate. Germany was on a different scale than the USA, that I knew now.

  39. Westminster cathedral in London, St. Pat’s Cathedral in NYC, and St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome are three of the most beautiful cathedrals that I’ve visited in my life.

  40. They pat me on the shoulder, telling me “good luck” and “way to go, man”. I smile weakly at them and nod, but I fail to see the luck in this. She is gorgeous, pure, sweet – perfect. But she is not who I want. The real person I want… he is not allowed in here. He is not allowed anywhere near me anymore. And all I want to do is tell him that I’m sorry.
