  1. and after a while,
her heart beats, much faster than usual.
    Stomach wrenching pain, oh,
    red cheeks.

A photo shoot in the midst of Autumn.
    Our first date.

    Claire Rementilla
  2. the bulb was shining brightly in the evening sky, but he had no idea that his life was about to change.
As he turned to his wife, he had to tell her the most excrutiating news of her life… their son wasn’t dead, but was in fact, alive.
The sun was going down as he broke the news that would shatter her heart and open a once closed wound.

    Erica
  3. Bulb reminds me of an iris…planted so fresh in the spring…along the side of the house. White paint crackling and peeling off the siding boards (old as dirt). I awake in the dawn before the dawn and stand outside next to the tigerlilies and the irises – the bulbs I had planted so gingerly a month before.

    Rachel
  4. light. flick the switch and it will glow and evrything will be illuminated. No darkness. This will be the source of light. But only little life, I wont expect to see it forever

    rheena
  5. Light bulb? Tulip bulb? It makes me think of irises and gladiola. My mom grew them when I was growing up – all along the side of our house. Flower bulbs equal childhood, it seems. And I’m worried about my Mom – she seems sort of detached, uninvolved, in a way I can’t quite articulate.

  6. Bulbs are fun to plant in fall because in the spring you get to see the results. My mom and I dug up a patch in front of their house and found a whole bucket full of daffodil bulbs. The spring after that there was a huge area loaded with daffodil bulbs, an unexpected treat.

  7. the bulb would not turn on. Panicked, she grasped at whatever was nearest, only to find her hand come away, holding feathers. Duck feathers.

    Bichroniciity
  8. A light bulb acts as a resistor in circuitry. Opium is derived from the bulb of a poppy. I have spare light bulbs at my house. I have 2 blacklight bulbs.

  9. fucking on the road, fucking in the dirt
digging holes for bulbs, digging holes for earth
telling me “don’t worry, it’ll all be over soon”
telling you “i miss you, since you left the room”
in a week you’ll be happy and i’ll be sad
in a week the cycle will restart
you keep coming and coming and coming and coming.

  10. *blub blub* said the little fishy in the dentist’s office’s square aquarium. I sat kicking my feet. There was a bulb out in one of the florescent lights, and another one was flickering. I ran my tongue carefully over my teeth. Why is that we only pay attention to how much we brush our teeth once we have to see the dentist?

  11. Outside in the gazebo I glanced at the porch; Dad stood on a stool examining the hanging plant, tendrils of green caressing down the sides of the pot. It seemed to me he found something unexpected and he was examining it. A bird’s egg. A coin. A new tooth.

  12. Score!!!! The word finally changed! How often do they change it? Who comes up with the word? I mean bulb…come on, that’s the most random thing ever…other than tractor. But that’s beside the point. I do like tractors though.

  13. I open the door and the light bulb came right on. Strange. No switch or anything. Maybe it was the fairies or elves. Little men and women sitting and watching day after day. Waiting for me to open the door so that they could flip the switch at the right time.

    Sfinxeye
  14. the bulb flikered as I hastily wrote the note, all was in place, except for that damn bulb. I`ve been meaning to replace it.

Oh well, that`s the least of my worries.

They`re coming for me. I know it.

How? Oh, simple math, and some nosing around.

And that`ll be the end of me.

    Mackenzie
  15. Rushing forward to take hold of this bursting bulb of light, this fiery breath of air, you wonder why the world doesn’t look so bright.

    Taylor
  16. plants springing from the ground, green and new, fresh, growing, balmy spring day, morning mist, tulips and lilies, unfolding in soft, velvety new petals, dew kissed, bees delight

    Shanzi
  17. Bulbs. Bulbous bulbs. Bulbous bulbs boil big beets. That makes me hungry. I do believe that I will now go purchase, boil, and eat some big beets from my local super market. Thank you Bulbous bulbs.

    Robert Tracey
  18. I planted a flower bulb in the garden last autumn, and then I forgot about it. It grew into an iris, I think, though botany isn’t my strong point. I thought it would have died over the winter. Shows what I know. I’ll buy more bulbs this year, I think.

  20. A bulb lights up the room and grows at the bottom of a plant and it’s where light and life both come from. Something that is bulbous is large and often unattractive, unlike the flower that grows from a bulb or the light that shines from a bulb. Bulb looks like “blurb”, which is short and sweet, unlike these sixty seconds!

    Carly
  21. the orchid slowly generated meat inside of her vulva-like bulb. it took almost three weeks until i saw her first bloom. it was a yummy purple, rich and velvety, just like my yoni.

    mennlay
  22. The bulb is no longer able to illuminate.
I feel like the bulb that has been burned out
Screwed out of all I know, left on a pile with fellow broken filaments, only to be tossed out with the rest of those who once had a place and now have nothing.

    Jason
  23. They always kept dying on me, until we got those new eco-friendly types. They looked prettier anyway.
Though they say they’re better, shops still sell them for cheap prices and cheap prices always have themselves sold.

    Lidia
  24. 25. bulbs are pretty when they turn to flowers!

  26. Exhausted, I drop a single gossamer wing into the cauldron and wait for the glow to emerge, for the simple hum of light to bubble up from within and illuminate this globe. We will refract the light, and reflect within ourselves those things the light reveals. Exhausted, I drop into the light and sleep.

    John
  27. Light. Tulip. Round and bulging. Full of promise.

    Lovell
  28. an idea. a spark. a short-circuit. It drains out everything out of me, but it’s all right. At least I know that there was something, a little glimmer of a possibility waiting and wanting to happen, and that makes it very worthwhile.

Edison said, “ahah! let there be light!”
Humphrey Davy said, “that was my idea!”
    God said, “actually. . . .”

  30. When the bulb finally goes out, when our time is up. You will go back to the other side of the world and these last two years will seem so distant, like the lightbulbs longing on the horizon.
When the bulb finally flicks on and you realise how I loved you, you will be filled with confusion, loss and longing.

  36. I like black lightbulbs because they make your white clothes glow in the dark. This is particularly useful at this time of year – Halloween. Also if you’ve brushed your teeth your smile will seem especially sinister.
One of my favourite flowers is tulips. They come from bulbs you put in the ground. Tulips are not only beautiful but make great puns.

    Steen

    Teri Coyne
  39. the light bulb shown bright in the attic. I sat alone, pondering the purpose of it all, wondering how to make a connection with the people I met every day. Was it possible, or was I doomed to live a life of isolation? the light went off.

    bob
  40. bulb, like light bulb? what the fuck? i guess it could be the bulb that grows into a plant of some kind? am i supposed to be writing something really deep. or just the first random shit that pops into my head? because im just doing the later. I’M SURE IT’S NOT VERY INTERESTING, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I just said it wasn’t. and for the record i didn’t mean to hit the caps lock. what the fuck, thomas eddison was a pimp. He invented the light bul you know, tho i heard that he stole it from a black man. that wouldn’t suprise me really, what am i doing this for anyway, am i going to get paid. Does it tell me when my time is up? a? I am so ver confused. So what’s new with you? Ok it has been a minute by now and im getting rather sick of typing. The incesent clicking is getting rather annoying.
