  21. The little brick house on the corner was worn; not looking well for its years. The bricks were being reused, originally from an old church that was torn down by the owners to salvage the materials. The red squares were obviously chipped in a few places and I thought about the fact that even a coat of paint would not improve the look, it was old and almost beyond repair.
“I’ll take it” I heard myself saying. The old man looked at me and with a smile he yelled “Hey, Euphamia!! Hey, she’s taking it” He looked at me, “full asking price?”, I was about to say yes but had a feeling I could save a few bucks. More for fun than anything, I countered with “how about $5000.00 less?” “twenty-five hundred, half way”.
“Its a deal, when can I take possession?” We shook hands.

  29. Well, they’re bricks. They tend to be red and they’re useful for things like building houses. they’ve generally got a rather rough texture and are porous. Bricks used to be made out of mud and i believe are what the ancient egyptians used to make the buildings that they didn’t make out of stone. I personally liket he way bricks here in Pittsburgh look–they’ve been darkened by the pollution and end up as a dark red-brown.

  30. The old brick house still stands there, you know. Long after my laughter, my play, my innocence has fled the place it stands, bereft of the foliage and beauty that gave it life. All metal and chains, now, cold and dusky and dead and unfeeling. I wish I could bring back the beauty of the days past. Maybe tomorrow?

In the marketplace today, however, we are all bricks – replaceable by simply the things we do, we are multiple and we are many. We are cheap and we do not care, for some reason.

  37. Oh, writing about bricks. How silly of us to spend our time writing about bricks. I don’t know really. Bricks tend to envoke a sense of strength in humans, but have you ever considered what a brick really is? it’s a single object that’s basically useless on its own. why, then, do people liken humans to bricks? We’re nothing like them, we’re wonderful, exuberant, phenomenally useful beings on our own.
