  1. Julie was a very religious person. Her life revolved around the Bible; its various interpretations and meanings held lots of meaning for her.

  2. Levi does not pray. He does not pray, he does not pray, he does not pray. He does not believe in a God or in Heaven. Doesn’t want to think that humans are meant for something greater than simply living and dying like ashes turned to dust.

But in the smallest confines of his mind, he wishes for there to be a God, for Heaven to exist. He quietly, bitterly wishes.

(Because the thought of Petra thriving in a peaceful world that had never been touched by blood and knives was better than the thought of Petra simply being gone forever, after all.)

  3. I really want to be biblical. I really want to live my life according to what the Bible teaches. I want to study to study what it really says as well so I could properly and soundly apply it in my life. I want people to see that the Bible is credible and reliable also, by looking at my own life style. I know I disappoint God a lot of times, and I deeply regret those times that I don’t glorify His Name. Nevertheless, here I am, writing with repentant heart, to those whom I have offended and mislead. Forgive me for falling short and for not doing what I should do.

    by Ryan on 09.25.2013

“You’re not serious,” Micah said. “You can’t be,”
    “I wish I wasn’t,”

  10. It was biblical, or at least that’s what she had said. Locusts happened in the Bible, so locusts happened here too. It was an almost optimistic viewpoint. But, now what? Our crops for the year were completely destroyed; we had nothing left for trading, and barely enough for ourselves.

  11. wow. that’s heavy man. I mean, like beyond heavy. It is … like, mind-blowing, can’t find the words to describe it…it is, like, biblical.

Max and I glanced at one another and both reached for a napkin.
“This is a problem of bible, biblio,…bibliacal, DAMN IT!”
He always got frustrated when his words didn’t come out right, which was often.
    “Biblical.” I said.
“Thank you.” He took a breath and continued his tirade. “And I don’t know how in the hell you idiots think you can just sit there and smirk at me when this shit’s going down.”
Max grabbed his coat and headed for the door.
Shrugging at McLeode, I grabbed my coat and headed after Max.

  16. In a very biblical essence, the wall of the cathedral crumbled and decayed as if time were sped up – almost immediately the debris had begun to settle right after it had fallen, the dust collecting around those scraps of stained glass that remained. The city claimed that it was “necessary” to tear down the edifice in light of new earthquake precautions, but in the end, a ray of light could only signify the tumble.

  19. “Read the bible,” they told us. “Pray.” “Be good Christians.” “Before you act, think to yourself, WWJD?” “Always be heavenly.” “Are your sins forgiven? Repent now!” But you know what? Sometimes, It’s hard. We can’t always be the PERFECT christians that they want us to be. Because in reality, it’s impossible. We CAN’T be perfect, for there was only one perfect human ever to walk the face of the earth. JESUS. So we’re not going to be perfect, like they for some reason expect us to. And we are not always going to make the right choice. Before doing every single little thing you do, do you ask yourself, ‘Would Jesus do this?’ Because I don’t. If you do, well then, god bless and by all means, continue leading your perfect, biblical life. But most people don’t. So it’s time to face the music and realize that we’re not perfect, and there’s no way we will ever be, so it’s time to stop trying. Instead, just simply focus on TRYING to do the right thing and TRYING to be a good Christian and TRYING to be who God wants you to be. Follow God’s word and be the best you can be.

  21. It was a mistake of biblical proportions. Their calculations were so monumentally off it couldn’t have been helped even if the damage control team tried their absolute hardest, using every ounce of their engineering knowledge.
The flames rose, the screaming grew louder and then faint. The blood had no effect on extinguishing the fire, but it had quite the effect on Johnson’s morale, as he watched everything he had ever loved burn to the ground.

  22. David walked into the upstairs room as Jesus was opening the casket of wine. “Where you been, D?” Jesus asked. “I was just chilling”.

  23. Biblical.

  25. I go to church on sundays and listen to the word of god, but i don’t really feel . . . fulfilled. I read my bible, but am I really being biblical? I know what god wants for me, but I am I being who he wants me to be?

  26. The night in her mind was a haze, she had only hardly put together the events based on what she had heard in the coffee room the morning after. She had lost her bag, injured her elbow, and fallen sleep in the taxi. There was one thing she remembered though, the sight of her boss in the stairwell, holding a glass of water with the streetlight glowing behind him like a halo: biblical.

  27. Give me an apple, darling, I’m absolutely famished.
And yet it’s all a state of mind, isn’t it.
    So it goes, I guess.

  28. The proportions have been so great that we could not even dimension them. No one in the crew was religious, but we all agreed, since very few of us were alive, it had been biblical, so biblical, that we were threatened to not make it as our peers had. We were morally forced to write our new Bible.

  29. Some of the shortest verses in the bible are “Jesus wept”, “be joyful always” and “pray continually”, which are a pretty accurate representation of the important messages of the bible. Two thousand pages summed up into seven words.

  30. We thought the rapture was something we just read about, taught in Sunday School by a lady who smoked weed after the bell rang. We thought – if rapture ever happened – that we’d be taken. We at least thought if we were left behind, our mamas would stop finding reasons to ground us.

  34. I prayed to God harder than normal when I hear my friends talking in depressing circles or when the dark scares me at night, but I still don’t like it when people talk about religion around me.

    by Kat on 09.25.2013
  35. I may no longer be Catholic, but I still feel a lingering attachment to the religion, and enjoy seeing allusions to the Bible(should have capitalized this in my previous entries),

  36. “There’s no biblical explanation for this,” Father Santo said solemnly. “She’s cheated on so many people now, without pay, so it’s not prostitution. That might explain why she was killed, another man’s jealousy.”

  37. The bible suggests that God loves everyone, yet the Devil receives no sympathy(empathy, in God’s case?). If God understands everyone, then he must, too, understand the Devil. Or has the devil been excluded from the group known as “everyone”? Shall he be mercilessly destroyed by God? God, who has the ability to enlighten the Devil with a new outlook on existence? To me it is the Devil who needs the most saving.

  38. Biblical phrases help me to endure the hardship of the day. I turn to You for advice and guidance when my patience has run thin. I turn to You for peace. I turn to You for it All.

    by Karmin on 09.25.2013
  39. Before the 1960s, it was widely assumed that Moses was the author of the Pentateuch. Nowadays, scholars believe that the Pentateuch consists of a collection of written stories by multiple authors. These stories may have been originally passed down through oral tradition, and were later transcribed by the authors, whose writings were compiled and put together over time as more related stories accumulated.

  40. Plenty of biblical references are hinted at in media over the ages, especially entertainment involving a world in peril. While the antagonist is not necessarily wholly evil or akin to the “Devil”, the main protagonist is often seen as a Christ-like figure who is there to bring peace and salvation.
