  1. I have always wanted to belong. When I started college I feared this…not belonging. But I have truly found my place in this life. That keeps evolving obviously but I’m okay with that. I belong somwhere. That’s nice.

  7. Belong is to own something. Or be owned. You belong to a person, you’re a slave. You are a simple belonging of theirs. You’ll live out your life serving them, doing what they want you to do, only living enough to do their bidding. One day, you get a chance to kill them. They die, you take their fortune and spend it on slaves. Rinse and repeat.

  20. What does it mean to belong? I really have no idea. I have always thought belonging to something meant being a part of something. How do you really know when you belong? Are you invited? Are you just assumed? I’ve never known. I’ve never really belonged. Well, not that I have known of. Belong. I have no idea, and it has no idea about me either.

  21. What is it about the need to belong? It’s such an urgent desire, to fit in, to be a part of something. The strange part, is that it drives all of us to become something not of ourselves. Can you honestly say you’ve never looked back and thought, “Wow, why did I do that?”…well you did it to belong.

  34. I don’t really know where I belong. I belong here with him. I miss my grandmother. I don’t know where she is anymore. Nowhere. The towels still smell like her, with the balloons embroidered on them. And there is a blue poinsettia at the store that she would have loved. I wish she were here so I could give it to her.

  40. ive always wanted to belong to a group that would never have me. i was never puerto rican enough, always labeled a wanna be white girl, couldnt jump double dutch to save my life and always too tenderheaded for braids. so belonging has always and still is a place im looking for.
