  3. To make different. Alternate is derived from it… it’s a pretty cool word. I like it. It is a generally nice looking word, appearance-wise, and it sounds good to me. A character in a story could be named Alter and I wouldn’t mind. Not too much anyway.

    by Mitch on 12.24.2010
  4. I think a lot about whether or not it is possible to alter your fate. I believe it is. I don’t think that you have a life course that you are going to follow, that your choices are already all made for you. The idea is rather creepy. I don’t want someone else making my choices. I want to be the only person to control my life.

  12. TO alter things, an alter. But to do anything of that … or have that you must first accept the present moment exactly the way it is. Only from there can you move forward. Or just move. You cant even change because you are exactly as you should be. Plus on top of that its just a story that we tell ourselves. Stories and stories.

  13. is alter the only word there is? Why?

is it because when I look in the mirror, all i can do is point out flaws?

is it because I look at people and see what could be fixed?

    by Adria on 12.24.2010
  14. To Change. People want change, whether it involve the government, the universe, the way people are… anything. The will of people is that nothing is ever good enough, everything can be changed. Nothing is perfect. Therefore, everything must be changed. Sad.

    by Alter on 12.24.2010

What if I could alter my disposition in such a way that I could be a different person each and every day. A quick attitude alter, a hair alter and perhaps a spray tan and I could be someone completely new.

    by Mandy on 12.24.2010

    by Raucous on 12.24.2010
  21. I hit backspace too many times and I had to alter too many words and the clock was ticking down until the time came that I had to pass in my essay and it didn’t say what I wanted it to say and my whole opinion was completely altered because I just don’t know what to write.

  22. I altered the perception of my mind when I took the pill and it slid down my throat and colors changed to numbers and letters and I knew the secret to the world and everyone was wrong. The Christians and Jews and Muslims and Hindus and Buddhists were all wrong.

  25. Altering your life is a very thrilling experience. It might range from a simple wild haircut (ok, not so simple if you’re a middle-aged housewife) to a brand new porsche, but what we need to think of is that once in a while, an alteration of your routine could prove to be eventful, thrilling, or downright fun.

    by Vidhu on 12.24.2010
  26. To alter is to change, to change anything and everything. We see it in nature with the changing of seasons, the warm simplicity of summer being altered via the cool, dying season of Autumn into the freezing winter. by liz on 12.24.2010
  29. Alter? Like an alter for sacrifice? We don’t use those much these days… but maybe we should. People rarely know how to sacrifice now. Each is always concerned for him/herself and wants what he/she wants. Maybe if we were all a bit more sacrificial, the world would be less ruled by pride and more by love.
