she run her fingers down her face, wiping some of the tears that escaped her already swollen eyes. thinking of the day a friend have left, she held on to two words that never gave anyone any sort of comfort: time heals. she cried herself to sleep again.

she was the most beautiful person to him. he cherished her the most, willing to go to the ends of the world just to be with her. seeing her now, as she mounts the dashing white horse, smiling sweetly to the man who held the reins, he was reminded of the bitter truth--that he was not the prince she was waiting for all along.
deserve
maria went out to the garden, shielding her eyes from the blinding morning light. clutched in her right hand was a pearl necklace, single strand. she was going to throw it away, or maybe hand it to someone who happens to pass by. she doesn't need it, doesn't have to forgive him. no, this man is not deserving of her love.
centerpiece
she stared at the centerpiece placed on the table in front of her. it doesn't mean anything to her, it was something she first saw that day. however, it was all she needed to be reminded of their days together. she grabbed the ceramic figurine and, with all the force she could muster, hurled it towards the end of the room.
obey
it is not the mind nor the heart alone that speaks and needs to be heeded. there's a third element, the one that often speaks the most--people. who will you follow, then? the one who thinks, the one who beats, or the one who breathes?

she walked into the stable to see him smiling in his sleep, settled in a cushy patch of hay. turning back, she wiped a single tear from off her face, not knowing whether to be happy for him or to dwell in her sadness. she knew in her heart that smile was not because of her.
