As the lawyer made his closing statement, it was clear that the evidence presented proved the innocence of the defendant. He sat and sneered while he listened to the argument that made it impossible for the jury to convict him. That closing statement wrapped up the trial, which allowed a very guilty man to walk free.

in this particular statement, i would like to make clear that anything you try to do is confined by everything you have ever done. but this isn’t a constant. let go of the past and make your own, new statement
By Mark on 03.10.2011
There’s something about trying to make a statement that is a statement in itself. We’re all so obsessed with standing out, being our own person and identifying who we are in fashion or behavior or words. But the fact that we’re all doing this, that we all fight so hard to become something else and show it, is a conformity statement all on its own. Fuck that.

She said it.Flatly. Like it wasn’t a big deal or anything. There was no conjecture or room for subjectivity. Just the fact. ‘It’s over’. And there it was. Over.

What is a statement? nothing more than a small grouping of words. these words could bind together in the most powerful manner, or be dismissed is simple idiocy.

Your last sweet statement completely broke through every single barrier I had put up. There had been none when we started but as time went by, we began to build walls. But when we found that piece of common ground, everything that was stopping us from knowing each other even better, shattered to the ground in a single instant. I was too captivated to pick the pieces back up and try to put them together again.

i am confused. am i supposed to be writing about the word, “statement?” how strange?! but i am worried that i will most likely not have enough time to write anything of worth. But i think this is a cool concept…whatever the meaning behind it may be. i feel like i will figure it out soon enough, am i right? :) i think so. im always right. statement.
By Julie on 03.10.2011
The statement was made, there was nothing else to be said.
You said it, but did you mean it? And if you meant it, don’t ignore it.
you stated the truth, and that’s all there is to it.

today, on facebook via my status, i stood up for what i believe in. and i’ll make the same statement here: i don’t support same sex marriage. it doesn’t make me a bad person, and i certainly don’t think it makes you one, either- whether you support it or whatever. i don’t judge. i’m not God, so it’s not my place. but i’m allowed to voice my beliefs, too, even if they’re not the same as yours or are less popular.

She went to the crowd, nervous slightly about what might happen when it’s all said and done. She knew she had to do it. She made no sign to show she was afraid, she had to look strong as she spoke. They needed to know, they wanted to know, but more than anything they needed to know what she had to say. “No pressure” She thought. Her brother used to say this as a taunt so many times while they were growing up. After a while she came to think that it meant he was intimidated by her next move. It was her words of empowerment. He knew this now, and would tell her to cheer her on. It’s the weird things like this that keep people close sometimes.

i want to write about something, just anything and here is goes. A statement is what you write, what people write when they’re legally obligated to or if they need to issue something in ink to make it clear that it actually happened. I want to make a statement, implying i have something to say that is important. No one has a statement, people make statements by standing out, writing them out and making it all happen.
A statement will forever be there, use it to the full.

My parents just got busted for selling marijuana. I don’t know how to feel about it. I’ve never been one to believe in legalization of the drug, but at the same time, I don’t think getting busted for it is the right thing anymore. I just hope the police don’t try to make a statement with my parents.

Me: So, I was all like, “This isn’t a daydream any more. I have to take life by the reins and steer my raging ponicorn towards greatness and glory!”
Statement: I think you are crazy. And just what were you hoping to accomplish with that very quixotic delusion?
Me: Um, find a pony-unicorn hybrid, jump on it and follow my dreams into greatness and glory. Oh, and preferably I’d wave a sword of fire around while I’m at it. Ooo-and I’d brandish a shield made of mermaid scales.
Statement: I stand by original assessment.
Me: Wait – is this because I believe in ponicorns?

I made a simple statement and you took it to heart. Something I said in passing, even I failed to notice it as something important. You hear me, and weeks later, showed just how closely you were listening. I said Paris was my favorite city, and you took me to a crepe restaurant. That small gesture means the world. Thank you.

I tried to think of everything. A fog had settled. There was a car. Colour? Blue. I think. Or black. It was small. A Peugot maybe. A Golf? It was two o’clock, because I always walk that way at two. Are you certain? I thought I was. Did I see the man running? Yes. He was wearing a hat. Woollen thing. Did I see his face? Yes, it was blurred. It was looking at the pavement. I wish I hadn’t been there. Seen anything. But I did.

That girl know how to make a statement. Sure, her dress was short and tight, her hair in perfect romantic ringlets, she was smokey-eyed and red-lipped, but what really did it was the way she moved. Wild and sexy, everyone know she didn’t intend to leave the club alone, and what do you know, her line of suitors had already started to form, the moment she hit the dance floor.

Most people make statements without thinking. i like to think. Is it better to be a man of action or one of thought. Is it better to be sure or to be quick. How do we strike a balance? How does one project without being in your face. The art of subtlety is lost on me.

He stood at the desk, arms shaking. The pictures on the wall seemed to be staring at him, their eyes full of condemnation, as if they knew in advance what he was going to write. He knew full well the potential dangers of his statement and the damning potential it contained.
Then, with trepidation, he began to write the draft that would bring the company to ruin.

When someone is creating an image, or concept in space or in your mind, they use a statement.
I say space, because sometimes will make statements when they are all alone. Who is it for? For them? Well they thought it, and then had to say it. Why go through the effort of saying it when it’s already in your mind?
