253 Entries for “patient”

  1. I was patient for a long, long time, but my patience was wearing out. I had to get paid for my work, and if I didn’t… well, they would pay me or they would pay. One way or the other. It was up to them, but this was their last chance.

I don’t think they’d like what I had in store for them. No, not even a little bit. Better that they pay me instead of me paying them.

  2. Mom smiled gently at the child sporting giant tears balanced on the edge of her eyelids. “Leah,” she whispered quietly, “I love you. A tantrum won’t change that, or Satan trying to make you and me mad. God will help us. It just might take a little while.”

Leah smiled in disbelief. “Thank you, God, for patient Moms. THANK you!”

  3. Today it’s hard to be patient with other people. Someone knocked on my door late last night and woke me up, and now all I want to do is go back to bed to make up for lost time. I am having trouble being patient, and I also think I may end up being a patient…at a mental hospital. I am going crazy with no sleep.

  5. Patience is a virtue . . . hahaha. Patience is something I aspire to, and as I “mature” I think I get better at having it . . . applying it . . . understanding it. I hope that I do not have to become a patient in order to learn to be patient. (Sorry for the pun – couldn’t resist)

    By Sheila on 12.13.2012

  9. why are there days, when thoughts spill right into my fingers
and make them twitch around a pen,
or they form right in the back of my mouth and push because they’re desperate for escape
but on days when i need the power of language more than i’ve ever needed anything else
    im silent
    and still
    and utterly apathetic?

He couldn’t enter- it was against the rules. But It could wait. Wait for them to come out, wait for them to show their frail little bodies with such thin, thin skin, so easy to rip. All It had to do was be patient.

  14. sometimes I’m not the most patient person in the world, I hate waiting for things. I guess that’s what meant by the word patient right? Whoever says their always patient is lying.. there’s no way that there’s a person out there who actually likes waiting for things. Don’t get me wrong, I wish I was patient, unfortunately that’s just not the case here! For some jobs however I guess you need some patience, luckily that’s not a priority in my case!

  15. There was a patient at a nearby hospital. He was very seriously ill with Count Choculitus. He didn’t know what to do. He bought out the entire stock of a near by grocery store’s Count Chocula and still was not satisfied. He had a hopeful disposition that the hospital’s staff could cure him of this ailment.

  20. like one of your father’s poor jokes, quick, what happens when two determinists meet?
it’s a different kind of sleeplessness, already i am cussing at your mother, 5.30am phone calls, breathe deeply, now; imagining you along coastlines, imagining the storms coming in, imagining we are on a hill alone with the grass and the sea and there is somewhere a background discussion on ornithology, absentmindedly conducted by our own two mouths, i’ve loved you less but today i want more, to stand by your side again (walking, out-of-pace, this is what i think of, and losing your silhouette)

  26. Patience is a virtue.
    Virtue is a grace.
Grace was a little girl who wouldn’t wash her face.
    Of blood.
That’s right, Grace was a serial killer.
    Most of us her.
Not on the outside of course, but within us all is the secret desire to destroy and kill.

  27. Would that it were I should be always patient
As I wait and I wait for you and only you
And how could you know that when I read anymore
The paper, the book, the lists, all words
All I hear is the timbre of your voice
    The manner of your cadence
And the way you form your phrases…

You, my love, are distraction personified.

Erika didn’t respond. She tried to glare at the doctor, but she was afraid that it wasn’t coming off nearly as threateningly as she wanted it to. His simpering smile confirmed that.

“Just a few more tests and then you’ll be free to go with your mummy and dad.”

Without much consent from her, her teeth began grinding together. Yes, because that would be so much better.
