  3. I have had so many losses in my life, it was just getting to be so unbearable. Starting with my mom and ending with my sister. Both of these women were so important to me, I was starting to feel like I was nothing in life. So many losses can really change a person.

  4. All of them. They are gone. For what purpose did they hold that I remember? One of some lesson or five or ten or a thousand. Each one bearing different fruits which were plucked and eaten or fell to the ground to be found as a flower seasons later.

What was gained by them as beings or entities most think of as none being or inanimate? All things are animate. All things are observing or rather play with our observance.

  5. Betina tallied her losses and shook her head, because she could see what it all boiled down to, a deficit pure and simple. She was operating in the red and this wasn’t just a question of finances. Betina was behind in life. She’d dropped out of her graduate program, lost her fiance to a cheerleader with a brain, alienated her best friends, and gained thirty pounds in two months. Things were not looking good.

    The man had lost.

  10. cut your losses and just quit while youre ahead, babe. Your lines need some oiling, some mechanical work. The slurred sentences drop and twist and twirl around my dizzy mind but i’m not falling for it, not falling with you. Make a one night wish and realize that i’m not a genie; I’ll flutter my eyelashes, kiss your cheek, but you won’t get any more. Beware the siren in the short skirt and bloody tights. You’ll only see me in your nightmares, babe. Mwah.

  13. We have to cut our losses. Handle our back-ups. Dismantle our initiatives. Rethink our strategies. Or any other business, economic, medical, or scientific lingo like that. Point is, we need to do something different, and fast.

We have a blueprint on the table. Gears literally shifting beside us and mentally in our heads. We have something phenomenal here. Something truly revolutionary.

We will invent the time machine.

To think that he was sitting in the same classroom as me for 80+ minutes a day, dreaming of college and beer, watching the clock and pretending to take interest, and now, all of that has led to one car accident. One night of one mistake.

“No, wait, Sophie -” he lunged forward, desperately grabbing for her sleeve, but she pulled back. She couldn’t do this. She’d done it too many times already. Time to cut her losses and go.
“I’m sorry, Dillon,” she said again, and against her better judgement whispered, “I love you.”
    Then she turned and fled.

  22. Denial. Dnger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance.
How simple minded the idiot that invented those stages was, to actually believe that those are the only things we feel. A man who saw in black and white while we felt a quite hideous set of colors.
    Pathetic.

  23. They suffered heavy losses. Their armies limped home with a river of blood at their heels, the lost lives dogging every step. Heavy footsteps dragged man by man. They were lucky to be alive, luck to still feel the sun on their face and the wind in their hair, but they couldn’t appreciate that. How? How could they possibly? Their friends lay in rotting piles behind them, dead eyes staring into an open sky.

  29. Losses… well this is such a deep word in my opinion. Losses are very difficult to deal with. This past year and a half I’ve had a lot of losses, I’ve lost my son, my boyfriend, my uncle, and my best friend. Losses suck. But I get up everyday and continue doing what I have to do for the people who walk into my life and also love me.

  31. This is different. This isn’t like when you were seven and your puppy died, or even when you had to attend your great Aunt’s funeral when you were in the sixth grade. This hurts. This is personal. They keep saying “I’m so sorry” but they have no idea. You don’t even have any idea. What’s happening to you? Stop, don’t answer that. Take a deep breath. Try to go on. I know it’s hard.

    By Annabelle URL on 07.30.2012

  39. our losses make us strong. Our losses give us grief, but also a sense of poigniancy – here is something in our life that we valued so much, we miss it. What are the kinds of things we miss? People? Things? I don’t think you can count a thing as a loss. When someone talks about ‘tallying their losses’ after a fire or a flood, I just think, “Be thankful there are no human loses.”
