  1. Once the early morning start and the 100 miles from Melbourne had been negotiated, children, mothers, girlfriends, sisters and the friends who had chosen to hang in there, piled out of their cars to face the hour long line up at the entrance. Show your ID, sign in, empty your pockets, leave all your belongings in a locker and make your way through the metal detector towards the heavy grey door.

  2. It was midnight in the bleak December when I heard the gentle rap-rap-rapping from outside my door. It started as a droning scratching then grew louder to a roar. Some late visitor entreating entrance? Or just the wind and nothing more? I lay there weak and weary gazing at the rustic purple curtain until suddenly my legs grew stronger and I leapt and opened up the door. Lenore, my kitty, sauntered in then sat and perched upon her bowl. Feed me now and lock me out never more!

It’s the end of the world for some, but I feel fine.

  22. the entrance was to another place i have never seen before. The sky, if you could call it that, was liquid. it resembled the rainbow-esque design that motor oil presents to a shallow puddle. The ground was that of geometrical design that pulsed in rhythm, like a song repeating over and over again which caused the world before me to dance a strange waltz. and all the living things I saw were not of any origin I have ever witnessed. was this heaven? was this hell? What was this?
