    by Max on 06.18.2014
  8. She was crawling. The space was so tight. Her breathing was shallow and quick. Shafts of light filtered through the vent covers at regular intervals. Finally, after agonizing minutes that seemed like hours she heard voices. His voice. She carefully inched forward as quietly as possible.

  9. Tear duct
    Falling down my face
I don’t know what happened but one day it wasn’t just a tear
Not a tear, like a rip, but a hole, a whole channel for water to fall, slipping down my face.

    by Brittany on 06.18.2014
  10. well there’s tear ducts that’s what you cry out of wow I bet mine have to work a ton because I cry like a two year old hahah oops and then there’s duct tape which can be used to tape things like broken objects or the mouth of the person you kidnap what

  11. The duct was way, way too small for Katie. Being the smallest of the group, she could only imagine what broad shouldered Hunter was feeling, or wide bellied Char. Eli was having the easiest time, being the thinnest of them all. His only problem was the length of his limbs; they kept banging onto the side audibly, making Katie wince. One of those boney elbows was going to give them away sooner or later.

  12. The salt invaded his tear duct. The pain caused the tears to run down his sad face. The ocean swept him ashore broken and alone. He had lost everything except his life. He frantically searched for anyone or anything, but there was nothing but the sound of crashing waves.

  13. Duct tape is a heavenly thing. You can make new objects out of it or you can repair old ones. Everyone usually conflates duck and duct completely missing the fact that they are two entirely different words! It happens to be infurtiating!!!!

    by Ayla Johnson on 06.18.2014
  14. it wasn’t like the salt was unwelcome. It just seem to crack when it dried on the creases of my eyes. As if to say some physical remnants of you remained. It was your presence of salt. The water we shed is too often waste. But there was some of you still in my tear ducts. I need to remove you entirely. But it was the salt that stayed.
Why couldn’t you appreciate that you were more to me, than mineral excretion.
It seemed I wasn’t even that to you.

    by Bella on 06.18.2014
  15. My mother told me one time; never hurt someone, because when you hurt them you will see their tear duct leaking and it more hurting when you see it in your lovers.

  16. It was hot, so hot. I felt like I was going to faint, but I had to keep going. On and on and on and there seems to be no end to the sweaty, cramped crawl space. I can hear the sounds of pounding metal getting closer.

  17. the duct work looked sturdy enough. Could I crawl through it without crashing to my death? I looked around at the rest of the room. The door was blocked. There was no way I was getting past the snarling, vicious dog chained to the door knob. And by the looks of that suspicious smoke seeping in under the door, I wouldn’t have much luck even if I got past him. That left one way out of the stark room…the duct work. Here goes nothing….please let it lead to somewhere safe!

    by Johna on 06.18.2014
  18. Duct is an odd little word yet it has horrible connotations. I’m afraid I think of kidnappers.

    by Me on 06.18.2014
  19. “Shit! which way?!” Headquarters had given snake and I a map of the hotels ventilation and maintenance shafts, but I used it to clean the mustard off my shirt earlier in the day, oh well, snake didn’t know there was a map to begin with, and even if we had it, it wouldn’t have been of much use. The only thing to do now was pick a duct and hope we actually drop in on the target and not some young pair having their honeymoon.

  20. “The problem’s in your heating duct,” said the man in overalls matter-of-factly. “The duct is fucked,”
I found myself feeling less and less confident in my decision to call in a professional. “Yeah, I thought it must be. The duct,” I said, nodding sagely, “is… fucked”

    by Juliet on 06.18.2014
  21. She didn’t know her ducts could hold so many tears. This day, this awful day showed her otherwise. It is all over.

    by Marie Lane on 06.18.2014
  22. They were found

    On their knees
    Slowly progressing
    Crawling

    Through the spaces
    Meant for the air cooled
    Only to become heated breath

They didn’t know where they were going
    They only knew
    About the air we breathe

    The poison
    Slowly entering
    On it’s knees

    Begging to touch
    Those collapsible sacs
That hold the fuel to our hearts’ fire

  23. The duct tape was a poor excuse as a repair, it really was. It was messy and unpleasant to look at. It wasn’t as if the Jones’ could afford to get a better repair, they barely had enough time for food, let alone, being able to fix up the house. The silver tape was laughable at best, though it did the job.

  24. Duct tape. That was all she needed, a big roll of duct tape. She’d been told that she would be able to do all sorts of things as long as she had that tape. As a mother of three, she needed something cheap that could be used in multiple ways. Everyone she brought it up to thought it was absurd, but she still decided to go out of her way in order to find it.

  25. It’s always unsettling to be the last in the office. Our particular building is a waterfront property converted from an old factor. Beautiful from the outside, upsetting from within.

It became doubly so when I heard the rattling from the vents.

  26. The window had a particularly small air duct next to it. I was sure I could fit through it. This was my way out, I was soon to be on my way home! I was free! I climbed on top of the chair and jumped to catch the sill of the duct. I almost fell but caught it in time. I lifted myself up and out of the window and ran. The fresh air felt so nice blowing in my hair. I ran and ran until my feet no longer were able to carry me.

  27. Dear me
My tear ducts are screwed up
My hair stands up (overwhelmed by static)
    My mind is cracked
    My soul sports ashen holes
I am somehow more than whole (1 and 1/2 perhaps?)
I swallowed my feet like an ouroboros it’s tail
But I would not say it’s over
    Or that I even failed
I could never be righter nor wronger
    Sometimes I feel outside myself
Like am looking at a strange artifact on a dusty shelf
and I want to break it (me) because it makes me uncomfortable
looking inside my shell of instability
    I’m cRaCkEd
I speculate what I might lack
Or that maybe it’s what others lack?

  28. Duct. Like duct tape? Heating duct? I don’t know, let’s just say I went into the heating duct and tried to figure out what was going on. Which was all swell and dandy until somebody turned the heat on–in the middle of July. I didn’t know what to do, so I tried to hightail it out of there, but I was stuck.

  29. Like ductwork running through a high end building with all of its twists and turns, so is the web of lies and deciet that you weave to conjure up a reality in which only you live in. Never ending in continuous system.

  30. Let’s unclog the duct. Fanatical cleaners will agree. The secret, of course, is to throw everything out. As fast as possible, to keep the duct clear. At what cost to keep the flow?

    by Ruth Levitsky on 06.18.2014
  31. The duct’s opening was narrow, but with considerable effort, I managed to squeeze through to the other side of the dock. The water was cold against my ankles and bitter on my tongue, as I attempted to snake across the damp boards as the waves continually struck me from behind and drenched me.

The entire time, I waited for footsteps that were never heard. I sensed no sign of life, and that meant, most likely, I had thrown the bandits off my scent.

    by Belinda Roddie on 06.18.2014
  32. It’s a quick fix. And don’t look at me like I’m crazy – back in the day, people were using things that were much less secure than duct tape to make repairs, and as far as we know they all turned out fine. After all, at some time had to die to make things as safe as we know them!

  33. The pain throbbing from my head made me to want to close my eyes so badly and succumb to the darkness that was calling my name. I could feel my whole body shaking, still feeling the burns on my arms sting and blood coming from my forehead. Help is coming, Tessa…just breathe. Think about happy stuff—Mom & Dad, all my friends—and of course, Joe. Joe’s coming. He has to.

And then, I hear voices shouting, and feet shuffling hurriedly across the floor. I know screaming is futile because of the duct tape across my mouth, so I wait and listen. It seems like years, but then the door finally opens and light floods the room and the four faces I’ve needed to see for the past week are before me.

Tears burn my eyes and fall with no hesitation, as Adam and the others look relieved to see me, probably because they weren’t expecting me to still be alive. He and Ben take their rifles and begin searching the room.

Joe is at my side in a second, worry etched over his features, as he hurries to free me from my bonds. Once my hands and mouth are free, he engulfs me in the tightest hug ever. And it feels so wonderful, because I never thought I’d feel his arms around me again.

“Tessa, thank God you’re alright. Thank God.” He mumbles in my ear, voice tight with emotion—I know he’s either crying or fighting tears. “I love you so much, darling. So much.”

  34. Once upon a time there was a roll of tape named Jimmy. He was hanging out with the other tape rolls from class and they were all making fun of him for being scotch tape. The duct tape wrapped itself around Jimmy until he suffocated and died. The other tapes laughed and didn’t call the police. It was pretty messed up. The end.

    by Jimmy on 06.18.2014
  35. duct i dont know the meaning of this word it sounds like duck but i dont think it has to do anything with ducks i believe it has to be some sort of sticky thing ,i am not sure about it though

  36. duct tape. i like the colors. and the patterns. i used to collect them actually. i still have some. they have a gummy bear pattern that i need. ive always wanted to crawl through an air duct like the suite life of zack and cody. that is all.

  37. A medium of our water supply,
    the blood of our veins,
the mainstay of our parched mouths,
wandering about the inconsistenties of technology,
contemplating on the luxuries Americans withhold,
at any given moment, a glass of angelic water presents to serve,
when mindful of tribal suffrages, beaten by bamboo, I swerve,
my happiness swerves, I relquisih my anguish,
extend goodwill, a flower, bloomed by my hand,
    I swerve!

  38. the sewages are contingent upon the agile ducts, without them, our waterlines would be inadequately short. When thinking about a duct, I hear slews of water vrooming through a pipeline that seeps into my shower, sink, and other aquatic household utensils.

  39. air duct: good place to hide a body, if its old enough. crawling through airducts to find out what the government wanted from me. Spy movie, sneaky sneaky.

  40. A duct is what,
    after all a
    conduit,
    a pathway
    to conduct
    waste,
    and all else!
