once that sound came it was obvious this was a trap.

Lock the deadbolt to your heart and throw away the key. Keep your love in and intruders out—never let them see inside the windows, or they might see something worth stealing.
By Andie on 04.28.2011
There is a deadbolt on my heart. I don’t know where the key is. Maybe it was sent away with the one winged lark.

I walked past the lockers in the science hallway today – no difference in my routine. I happened to glance to my left, continued, and did a missive double-take. There was a deadbolt blocking the entrance to my next class. Okay, then…

the deadbolt was broken. i froze. i slowly spun around, careful to make as little noise as humanly possible. and there he stood. he held a gun, but it wasn’t pointed at me. i took a deep breath, and slowly reached up to pull the barrel away from his temple.

Aislinn ran inside the room, terrified. Hurriedly she slammed the deadbolt over the door. The sounds of a battering ram could be heard: likely it was just Niall’s fists, the big idiot was like an ox.

the door. locked inside.

Lock of a door, so hard to open
bobby pins and unfitting keys can’t open
I unlock the bottom, twist the knob;
the deadbolt stands still, unmoving
Incapable of being opened

Well this is a curious word. it does something positive. It provides protection, yet the word itself is, well, deadened. Why not livebolt or soemthing that woud connote safety. I unserstand why the worbolt is used, but the prefix is odd. I wonder, in fact, about the dervation f the word. Is is borrowed from some other portmanteau that includes the word, “dead.”

I dont know what this means. Hobos can probably associate with them one way or another though.

Deadbolt is such a serious word. Maybe cause it has the word dead in it. If this was Mrs. Clarks class the Bj would tell us how he locked the deadbolt to keep the carnies out.

The deadbolt rattled ferociously. She wasn’t sure if it would hold out much longer against the raging dogs that had found their way out of the shelter’s “problem” compound. If those dogs got into the office and got their teeth into those papers, it would all be over.

Deadbolts help keep you safe at night, you can lock your doors, and anything else you need to lock. criminals have no chance to break in if you are using a deadbolt to lock your doors. Deadbolts may save you loads of worry.

Cormac turned his key and opened the deadbolt. The room beyond was filled with munitions collected over lifetimes. Lifetimes that were short and bloody. Cormac scanned the room looking for the Sten that Diarmuid had used in the last raid, eyes roving over a collection that included Mausers that had not only seen action at 1916 but under Kaiser Wilhelm I as well.

A lock on a door that you can never get out of. It’s physically and mentally impossible. Could also be a song name or a book. I never think of dead, though.

I locked the deadbolt and prayed they wouldn’t find me. I searched through every bag to find a weapon…all i could find was an umbrella, it was better than nothing. When the door crashed open i mustered up all my strength and i swung and…i missed.

The door is shut with a deadbolt, perception is locked, as the mind joins a cult, you are overcome by the uniformity it causes, and society is what was once loved, but now ruined.

Slow day today, so this’ll have to do.
By Clay URL on 04.28.2011
I try to fource myself to write about the word each day. The down side of this is that when I can’t think of something remotely interesting I just end up with this crap. Sorry to anybody who read this. You should just stop now. Seriously its really boring. I didn’t even use the word. Deadbolt. Now I did. Why are you still reading?

Who knew your heart would deadbolt to another? Thats something that you had no chance of changing. So here I am deadbolted to your heart and watching it be chained to another unrequited love. Its to sad that I long to find the key to unlock this shit I’m tired.

When I need to secure my door, I use a deadbolt. It helps stop burglars and unwanted guests. I hope my deadbolt doesn’t stick because I like feeling protected. In reality, a deadbolt can only protect me against the common criminal. But there are a lot of those.
