  1. His bowtie looked out of place, as if he was trying too hard to look intellectual. She could tell that he felt awkward from the way he stood, the way he held his drink. But she knew he was a kind man. She wanted to go up to him and flirt with him, to make him feel attractive, to let the room see that a man like that could still be attractive to a young woman. But she knew that wouldn’t work, because not only was he old enough to be her father, he actually was her father.

  4. I like bowties. Aren’t they cute? I have one, well, technically, it’s not mine, I gave it to my dad as a gift, but he can’t use it because of the strict uniform code at work, so I tend to wear it from time to time. It’s a black bowtie, with while polka dots on it. It makes me feel formal but cute and casual at the same time, so I like to wear it.

She always preferred me when I was in a bowtie, might as well be the last time she sees me in one. Several people passed their blessing to me as I passed by, but I couldn’t say anything. Finally, I walked up to the coffin and looked at my little, three year old sister’s sewn eyes. “I know you think I look silly in these bowties, so I thought I would made you laugh for the last time,” I said, and then I closed the casket.

In fact, she was sure he was disoriented by her appearance as well. The golden gown did wonders for her lackluster figure, giving her curves she did not have and giving her hair a surprising sheen even in the dim light of the dressing room.

  24. He wore a bowtie & carried a paring knife in his left pocket at all times. He had a tendency to wear rubber rainboots in all kinds of weather. I had written him off as a hipster, initially, but then it rained & he came to the cafe with dripping hair, a drooping bowtie and a large grin. He had walked anyway, & I suppose the rainboots came in handy.
Then, of course, there was the time it did not rain, & he brought me a detailed carving of a salmon, tucking the paring knife back into its pocket.

She picks a different shape ever time, and this time it’s bowties, like the one I have hidden in my underwear drawer for when I need to look fancy. I wore it only once, at the place where Daddy disappeared.

  35. Polka-dot, striped, tie dye, or anything else. The bowtie is the most fashionable choice a guy, or girl, could make. Coupled with a fedora and you look like you belong in a black and white forties movie. Add in glasses and a ucalale, and well then sir, you are a hipster. Congratulations and long live.
