  1. “It’s gonna be hot and sunny!” Al Roker declared with an annoying smile. Reza grimaced and threw out her coffee. In the winter it was easier to blend in and hope they saw her as an American. She was a native of Texas, after all. But in the summer there was nowhere to hide. Wearing a hijab and long sleeved dress always screamed foreigner to the good ole’ boys.

  2. An asinine so omnipresent. You look in the rotting grass – Children playing, their teeth slitting through the forged ambiance as they nod their heads.
    It’s never going to change.

  3. This home knew no nationality. It welcomed children of diverse colour, mindset and backgrounds who had nowhere to go. It was peaceful. If only the world was too…

  6. His love for his country simmered like a boiling pot of potatoes. Seemingly quiet and calm but all of a sudden overflowing, loud and messy when a national sporting win was announced.

  7. National. What does it even mean to have this sense of national pride anymore. I feel like we are all at war with each other. Crucifying one another’s beliefs and traditions simply because they are different from our own.

  8. All encompassing. There’s nothing out there, or so she’s told. They say that the country is the only one who survived, but she’s been reading. She’s heard that there’s something else out there, and she wants to know more.

  15. National party, New Zealand’s prime minister is from this party, and for some reason we keep voting for this horrible party. John key our prime minister, the inventor of the three hand handshake and the pull the waiters hair trend, he is what Nz is about, making new things that are just stupid which also should get you kicked off your job as prime minister but of course he is so important that he gets out of it, but he’s not because he is in every way useless but we need a prime minister so we chose the trend maker John Key.

It can cause wars, hateful comments and violence, but it can create unity, and forms communities. Nationality is very important

  34. A feeling of full emotion wrapped around this word. nastalgia of what was, a sense of pride in what is, and a bubble of hope for what will be where i live, Am I a Hero, am I a felon, or am i living where i belong? Is this word denoting Who I am? Does it imply where i should be? How important can such a place as “national” be?

  36. National refers to anything about a whole country. For example National Museum, National Australia Bank, National Basketball League.

    by Dana on 06.11.2015
  37. the word national reminds me of our country, the United States. the promises the country makes to its citizens but never keeps them, it brings back the memories of school and the classes in which we learned about our country, how it’s “national” i honestly am both appreciative and disappointed in the United States.

  38. I watched my daughter from the window, holding my tea between my palms. She was in the yard with the boy from next door, on their knees in the dirt. Her pink jeans were stained all along the calves, but I resisted the urge to pull her up. Their hands were busy. They were talking and pushing the dirt around, into a small mountain. He pushed a stick into the dome of the mound. She pushed a leaf down onto the stick. They were crowning their castle with a flag. Claiming this tiny mountain as their own country, in the ocean of the backyard. Such a faraway world.

  39. the world is
    inter-
    national

  40. “I don’t sing the national anthem.”

    “Why not?”

“Because it’s terrible, that’s why!” Sylvester slapped down his half-empty can of beer as he finished his sentence. “And not because of the country, mind you. It’s just a terrible song.”

    “Why do you say that?”

“The melody, the lyrics, the strange question at the end…I mean, if it were me, the national anthem would have a lot more death metal screaming and definitely a couple of explosions after the second verse. Because AMURRICA!”
