  1. Bargaining against yourself, because no matter how much leverage you think you have, exercising this power over other people never makes you feel better. Or if it does, maybe it’s because you’re releasing someone else’s leverage over you; perhaps your soul is in the balance.

  2. “I have leverage, and you will do as I say, because of said leverage. Think of it as a guarantee that I will get what I want.”
I cowered in my seat as the man towered over me. His hand grazed my upper thigh and he held me onto my seat.
“You would be smartest to do as I say, young man. I have powerful people and my once you hear what my leverage is, you will have no objections.”

  3. I had leverage when I was in charge of the finance department. I made those minions bow before their pages and pages of numbers. No idling in my arena. But then my own feet tripped me and my world came crashing down. Now, my leverage is limited to lifting a cup of coffee to my lips in the morning.

  4. He knew it gave him leverage over them. He knew their secrets, and they knew he knew. He hadn’t said anything about it, but the looks on their faces said they’d figured it out.

He wondered what he should do about it. Sure, he had some amount of power in this situation, but it also meant they had a good reason to try to take him out.

Should he go to the papers? That wasn’t really what he wanted, he just wanted to keep his job and for everythign to go back to the way it had been before.

  5. She had more leverage over me and I didn’t know how I was going to get out of this situation that I was in. If I didn’t move quickly, it would all be over and it could be the end of the world. She was evil and I was the essence of good. However, she had the advantage.

  6. when one side is winning,
    one side has the upperhand
and no one else can undermind
    the flow of things.
    it’s playing your cards right,
    making every right move in
    life’s chess game.
    Or checkers,
    if that’s what you’re into.

  7. As he was the boss he had enough leverage with the rest of the board to consider his promotion.

  8. Even though he had abandoned him, Gendo was still using his position as Shinji’s father as leverage in order to get what he wanted from him.

And he was succeeding. Despite his desire to run away, the Third Child would continue to pilot Unit 01.

    (Damn bastard.)

  9. Turn the things around from a weak point of departure.

  10. The prize was small, but the recognition would be important. He could use it as leverage to get more funding, and maybe even to get his colleagues, and more importantly his wife, to take his research seriously.

  11. Most women try to find a hold on their men, or leverage if you will. But the best way to hold a man is to simply love him, and show him your true self. If he is true to you he will be there, if not you don’t want him, let him go he wasn’t yours to hold onto to begin with. Love shouldn’t be a game. Love should just be.

  12. Try as I might, it just wouldn’t budge. Grunting, I decided that instead of pushing maybe pulling would work better. Still no luck. Why does it have to come to this? I thought to myself. Gathering up all my courage… I jumped!

  14. It’s up, it’s down
    It’s heights
It’s the benefits but with the downside of false pretence
Not always but that’s my impression
    The steps
    The overlaps
    And hence
    The leverage

  17. There was a tax leverage. I feel really neutral about it. SO what’s it got to do with me? Maybe that’s the ignorance of the Y-Generation.

  18. That handful of ill considered decisions, which led to her darkest days, had managed to cast a gloomy shadow over every year that followed. Elouise had lost nearly everything that mattered to fear. It had bought about a permanent frailty in her, but in the precious moment when she took her grandson into her arms for the first time and looked into his perfect unscathed eyes, she resolved to leverage the hope of that new life.

  20. The box was heavy. Too heavy, in fact, for Kat to lift. She tried once, twice but failed. How could she possibly lift a box that was the size of jupiter, even though she herself was the size of the Earth. It was just implausible.

  21. He had the smile of a man who would not lose a wink of sleep over betraying his comrades.
And really, in this hellish world, that was all the leverage that he needed.

  22. Leverage. That’s all she needed.

In typical fashion, her brother had hogged the PS3 all night long, and intended to do so for the rest of the week, keeping her from playing her beloved RPG. She was so close to killing that bonus dragon.

She only needed some form of leverage to hold over him so that he would HAVE to give up the PS3. Something good…

Their parents still didn’t know about the hole he accidentally put on the side of the house….
