  5. Both of them, the twins as they were called, brothers that worn born together, built together, loved together, came crashing down; a barrage of concrete, glass, plastic, and flesh. The smell, intoxicating, the sound, clenching, the horror, unimaginative. The twins, the towers, the 3000 souls (and counting) were lost to the smoke and tears. Remembered by loved ones, by strangers with goosebumps, by ordinary people, and we the last generation, are the last who will remember them, the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

As she walked trough the multiple towers of the castle, the castle she had dreamed of walking so many times before, she felt like she was finally where she was supposed to be. Like everything she had ever done had somehow brought her there, to that exact moment and that precise place. And that, well that was all she could really ask for.

  18. held up inside,
    a tower just for me
    where all my secrets lie,
waiting to sail across the sea.

    To free myself
    from this prison I made
    strung up my own chains
    to keep everyone out.

    Now I’m locked in,
and no one can get me out.
    Forever in my tower,

  24. “Cleverrr,” she drawled, four claws digging into the ceiling. “Clever girl. Clever, clever girl.”

Did she see what I did there? I tried not to look her in the eye. I hadn’t screamed for help, because I knew no more articulate way to say it than to weep.

She had caused so much pain in the span of an hour. There was no way to stop her, or to strike back. I could only watch as she scaled this tower and found no resistance in either my heart or my soul.

  29. Towers; tall proud giants that can transform the skyline of any city. A monument to mankind’s achievements, towers represent a new era of innovation and technology. But with the events that have unfolded eleven years ago, towers now have a new impression on the mind: Pain. Sorrow. Vengeance. The twin towers, a representation of the world market, were struck on this day eleven years ago. And since then, we have entered into two wars over it. We entered Iraq and Afghanistan to fight those who would do us harm, and to bring them to justice for what they did. We will always remember the men and women who lost those lives on that day, and the many brave souls who have died fighting for them since.
