  22. I grabbed the deoderent, giving myself a quick spray before I had to leave. “Hurry up Cam!” Daniel yelled from downstairs. “Sorry Dan, I’m coming” I replied, grabbing my purse and running out the door.
“Man, Cam, You should have already been ready, he’s two blocks away now.” “Yeah, I know, sorry, let’s get going.”
We jumped on h is motorbike and sped down the road.
“What’s he wearing Dan?” I asked, the small walkie talkie in our helmets transferring the noise.
“He’s got a long black overcoat on, a top hat, and he’s carrying a briefcase.”
“Oh yeah, like that makes it easier.” Dan chuckled, slowing the bike to a mere 50, so we could get a better view of the crowd walking down the sidewalk.
“Dan, Is that him?” I asked, motioning towards a young adult mad fitting his description.
“Yeah, nice spotting Cam” he replied, parking the bike across the road from him.
    “Okay, let’s go.”
    Everything started happening then.
We crossed the road, closely following the man down the footpath.
He turned, looked me directly in the eye, winked, and said “You should have stayed home. The fireworks are about to begin.”
I gasped in shock as everything went a blinding white.

  23. Spraying the water hose with joyful enthusiasm, the two boys played in the backyard. As their mother observed them from the couch, she knew this would be one of the last times she was able to watch them frolic and play. The nurse flushed her IV and changed the bandage on her arm. While the lesion had healed some, it was obvious from the red lines that it was still infected. Healing had become a low priority for her frail and dying body.

When the nurse was done with her, she summoned the boys and Jamie asked if she would check Luke. “He is perfect” she said as she ruffled his hair. He climbed into her lap as her husband held her hand and Lucas sat at her feet.

She was at peace knowing that Luke would live on and she had been able to make that miracle happen. Noone could know that the car wreck would destroy her last good kidney and part of her liver.

As the morphine took effect and sleep overcame her, she smiled visualizing the water spraying from the nozzle in the yard…and she could hear the boys laughter as see them running….

The spraying morphed into a beautiful fountain and she was surrounded by white. She heard her name being called in the distance but she did not turn back…. she was at peace.
