  10. running the spotlight was always a difficult task. it required more attention than I ever had to offer. I never like being in the spotlight. I would prefer to work quietly behind the scenes and recieve reccognition once my task is completed.

  13. Golden haired, she stepped onto the lake, and wiggled her toes in the wet of it. Looking down, her eyes captured the beauty beneath the surface. Watching the fish below her dance, created a child’s smile, which completed the look of utter happiness on her face. Satisfied, she moved out onto the liquid stage. A beam of moonlight seemed to lead her way across the water. Reaching the very middle, she stopped and dove into the air. Hours flew by as she swam through the clouds. Chasing birds and allowing the current to take her, she became lost in the sky.

  14. the spotlight was on the man as he stepped out on the stage. his once white shirt faded red by the stage lights. only on man sits in the far back left side of the room. he looks over to his left and a man with a gun walks out.

  18. in the spotlight. lights, pressure to perform, panic? maybe. but the spotlight is where it all begins. do or die. mess up – you’re out. succeed – you’re in. it’s the spotlight that can make it or break it.

  22. the crowd is roaring, hand on the mic. I’m now the god of this mob, the energy in my throat is fire in their ears. They’ll die for me, live for me, preach my word. And all I am is a singer. Strange world we live in where gods are born and killed at a whim.

  24. Standing in front of class, I don’t think I’m ready. This speech is not prepared at all, the other kids are going to be laughing, I know it. The teacher already looks bored, and I just got up here! I can never be a public speaker like this. The spotlight is just… It’s too much. I can’t do this. I can’t.

  25. All around chaos reigned. Instruments tuned, people rushed, clipboards in hand, headsets and walkie talkies squawking.

He made his way to the wings of the stage. People bumped and jostled him along the way.

At the edge he stood, waited closed his eyes and breathed.

He thought of her, only hours before lying quietly along side him. He remembered the smell of her hair, her skin. He remembered and the world shrank away from him.

Finally he opened his eyes and stepped onto stage as the curtain rose. The spotlight found him… transformed.

  26. The attention was unwanted, totally unwanted. It wasn’t needed, or craved. He hated the feeling of being watched, but he felt superior. Taller, bigger, better, than anyone watching. He took this opportunity and made it work- he played his guitar, strumming softly until the lights dimmed, sitting under what was the spotlight.

  30. Very bright and sometimes intrusive. Rarely showing what the person really wants you to see or sometimes showing too much of the person that isn’t really there. Still good to be in on occasion for a confidence booster.

  31. the spotlight is what i want to be in. am a theater geek so, therefore it is natural for me to be inside the spot light. You see it feels good that energy it really does.

  32. am I supposed to write about stoplights? Makes me think of that Shel Silverstein poem, the one where all the people are just twiddling their thumbs, waiting for the light to change. Why are there three colors -and why those three colors? Do they show up the best? Also, why are crosswalks not raised? Speed bumps should be crosswalks…

  35. bright white light. alot of people like to be “in the spotlight” I prefer not to be. spot lights are used to illuminate others such as performers on a stage.

  36. Spotlight is something that many people look for, work for, want so desperately, but don’t realize the craziness behind it. The spotlight may seem inviting, but you can lose so much of yourself for that 15 seconds of fame and fortune.

  37. There she was…All eyes on her. She was nervous, as anyone would be, but she knew the steps like the back of her hand. The music started, and she began dancing like a swan. The audience soon disappeared and she was in her own world again.

  38. i’m in the spotlight for my family as I apply to law school. It terrifies me. They all wait for me to perform. How will the show turn out? Will it get rave reviews? Will it falter in the box office? When it has been on the stage for too long will people stop caring about it? Will the spotlight leave me in peace so that I can carry on after this show is over?

  40. it is the thing that is to show who is proforming, a spotlight is able to point out what occurs. the object in the spotlight exists as a proformance piece, be it not moving, or active. perhaps it only exists as such in the spotlight.
