  7. She set up the projector and someone turned out the lights and then everyone quieted down. She clicked through her images and said a few words about each. At the end, everyone felt sad but also somehow like they had witnessed something that got to the core of things in a way that none of them could explain but that nonetheless left them more open to the world.

  12. The math teacher couldn’t get the projector to work, so he asked the head IT worker to check on it. Of course, when she arrived, he scoffed.

    “I wanted the head IT worker,” he growled, “and not some pretty little intern.”

    The IT lead smiled. “Well, then,” she replied. “You can just take your projector and stick it where the sun don’t shine, then.”

    The students oohed at her sass.

  14. The projector sat on the broken tree trunk as it displayed a cheesy chick flick I recognized. I turned to Tyler as he stood behind me with a crooked smile and I laughed with tears in my eyes.

    “You did this for me?!” I cupped my mouth with my fingers. He approached me slowly and chuckled

    “Of course I did, you know I’d do anything for you.” He hooked his finger underneath my chin and brought his soft lips to mine.

  18. memory after memory clicked onto the screen. She couldn’t bear it, but she also couldn’t tear her eyes away. This was her life, with him, all 20 years of it, clicking away in front of her. They say your life flashes before your eyes when you die, she wasn’t the one dying, it felt that way nonetheless.
