She nods against her girlfriend’s hand. “I know.”

  4. She acted like a spoiled princess.
    Shocker, right?
You’d think that someone who had her looks and brains would be walked all over. She wasn’t pretty nor could she hold a half intelligent conversation. But, hey, she had the cash. She suddenly became every man’s dream girl. Because those benjamins talk, baby.
Her shoulder ran roughly into mine, bursting my bubble back to reality.

  11. Princess is what every little girl aspires to be. The crown, the jewelry, the beauty… but most of all, the prince. Princesses can be found in all of our childhoods. Snow White, Ariel, Cinderella… they’re all princesses. They all suffer losses. They all face hardships. But in the end, they all find love. I wonder if that’s how real life might go some day. I wonder if maybe someday that would happen for me. After the hardships and the losses that I’ve suffered, not that it could compare to most people’s sufferings, but I wonder where my prince is. Realistic? Not probable. Hopeful? Definitely. Dreaming? Always.

  12. Why did it have to end this way, princess?
I know I wasn’t as good to you as I could have been. But please girl, I love you. I know you love me baby, I know you do. So why won’t you stay? Youre my princess and you mean so much to me.

Because my dear, it’s not enough anymore.
It’s not enough that you love me, and I love you.

    Love isn’t enough.

Something didn’t add up to me, but I let you be. And then I saw what you became. Still a princess, but conformity engulfed you. Sin and good graces, that you are, Princess Kaley.

  19. The spit crown melts down her face
    – a bile gift from the shot-filled passer-bys
Sardine lid cut thumbs flick through yesterday’s news
Chewing gum and dog shit between toes hanging out of boots
The salt flakes between her teeth from some forgotten cheap mistake
That paid enough to deliver that sharp release across her cross town traffic arm

In some time, when tin foil was replaced by silver and nylon was replaced by lace
and every corner held the possibility of a warm and welcoming surprise
where the odd gloves had all fingers and the face no bruise
    where pigeons had both feet,
