  8. The future; it’s impossible to understand and explain the turn of events in the present that leads to the future. Hopes, dreams, aspirations. Who knows what could happen?

    By Emily URL on 06.21.2011

  9. You can predict a lot of things. ‘This milk will go bad if I don’t drink it soon.’ ‘I’ve put a lot of thought into this gift, they’re really going to like it.’ ‘The door will make a sound when I close it.’ Most of what we do is predicting, actually. But even with all those years of practice, I never would have predicted that she wouldn’t wake up again.

  10. Funnily enough, I predicted that anything I write today will be tinged with despair. Despite the sun shining brightly outside, it’s one of those days, where I can’t seem to get past all the anxieties that are building up, the ones I keep pushing away, which will eventually over-take me. Sweeping them away and ignoring them doesn’t make them disappear. But at least I appear to be psychic. A little bit.

  12. To try and figure out what the future holds is impossible. If I were to predict with me and you, I would find that it would never work. A love that would be forever lost. But if instead I hope and fight, I know that we will make it happen. A love stronger than the weather.

  13. I can’t predict the future, and it irritates me, because I like knowing what’s going to happen. All I can ever do is plan . Plan Plan PLan PLAN PLAN. Sometimes I don’t like not being able to predict the future because then I won’t see the bad stuff… but then I can’t see the bad stuff. What to do? Sometimes I don’t mind… I like that I can normally deal with the unexpected. But when the expected comes along, I second guess myself anyways.

    The next second…
    The next hour…
    The next day…
    The next any thing…

God knows. He doesn’t predict. He doesn’t guess. He KNOWS.

  16. When we looked into the future we saw green and gold and red and when we looked back we saw summers gone by. We journeyed on the path and crawled into small coves on the butterfly-winged coastline, never knowing or thinking of what was to come, the green and gold and red of glory and blood, meadows fair and wheat fields, sunshine and winter.

I predict that my future will be the complete opposite of what happened to Orson Welles in the greatest film ever made “Touch of Evil.” His future had been all spent up and his partner shot him because he shot first and he knew he was corrupt. Predictions can be good or bad, either way you use them.

  21. I couldn’t predict what would happen at the funeral parlor or if he would show up to pay his respects to the old man. Whatever had happened fifty years ago it was still fresh across his mouth like a sour kiss.

  25. “You won’t be able to hide from it. Denial won’t help anything,” he said. But I only turned away. I refused to believe that anyone could predict something like that. It just wasn’t possible.
“Don’t hate me for something I can’t control. I’m only the messenger.” I shook my head, but still didn’t turn around.
“I don’t hate you. I just wish we’d never met.”

    By Myandi URL on 06.21.2011

  26. I predicted this page. I knew what was at the top of it. I knew I would write about the word “predict,” and I was correct.

But who can ever really predict anything? How could I know? How could I predict “predict?” I couldn’t at all–I am simply another egotistic man, pretending he knows, pretending he can “predict” when I am nothing at all.

But I am so much! I am so much more than simplicity, so much more than predictions. I can say whatever I want, can claim whatever I wish. No one can stop me, no one can keep me from continuing to make claims that will never be verified. Who can stand in my way? Here, on a stumbled upon site, writing for 60 seconds about nothing at all and yet everything in the world. The only person standing in the way of my prediction is me, constantly questioning, and internal, unending battle with me.

And yet none of it can be believable. None of it will ever accomplish anything. What is it to predict?

It is to be perpetually undecided. It is to know nothing at all.
