  3. Her pen pushed to paper, and along came her sprawling signature. She was the first, the first of millions that would sign it.

Each of those signatures would bring her closer to her goal, closer to completing what needed to be completed 20 years ago. She was the first one, taking the first step.

    Everyone would follow.

  4. The petition seemed harmless. She reluctantly signed her name on the last line of the page. Suddenly, a feeling of dread and regret washed over her when she realized that “Donald Duck” was not an appropriate choice for a replacement for the mayor of the small burg. She walked away thinking…”oh no. what have I done now?”

  5. Petition the fact that somethings wont turn out because sometimes its to short of a time and you have to hold fast to what you believe in. All you have to do is see yourself in the light that no one else but that one special person can.

  8. I’m in a bussle of people and I feel as though I’m drowning. I have to get there, I must get there. The government is suppressing us, but it seems as though I’ll feel unimportant if I’m not apart of this movement. I have to sign the petition. I weave my wave between people. I duck down and shove aside people’s leg. This is selfish of me, I know. But I need this.

He could not make sense of anything it said.

  12. People always try to change something. The only bad thing about it is that they try to change it with the help of others. They think that by getting a bunch of people to sign a petition, they’ll have more power. Why don’t they believe in themselves, their own power to change? If you want something to change, go out and do it yourself. It doesn’t always necessarily require mass for change

  19. Dozens of petitions were signed with red ink by masqueraders wearing sequins. The petitions called for an end to x-y-z preventative services for some form of personal refusal to cater to any greater human service. Meanwhile, a gay man was told he couldn’t buy condoms because he didn’t need them and his hellspawn wouldn’t spring from any deeper bowel sources. The store owner was promptly socked in the jaw by a liberal messiah.

This country, yes, may have been founded by religious zealots, but we are a country for ALL. For everyone who should want to live freely and live with the chance of continuing to do so without having someone else’s indoctrinations forced down your throats and vise versa! Help us all, as you help yourself!”

As said the marquee. The restaurant stared at him as his face lost it’s redness, his eyes went back to their relaxed state and he huffed, to let it be known that he was done. He had said his peace.

Some tried to start a clap. Others spat out their food, slammed down their forks and knives and stampeded out of the restaurant. The others remained in shock.

  25. the petition was signed by multiple men all over the state. They shunned the woman and didn’t allow them half of the rights they were entitled to. All the men laughed in their faces as their quill and not-so-quill pens hit the paper, signing there filthy names. The petition wouldn’t allow woman to be able to use sharp objects ever again, saying that we were too weak. This effected me too much to let it pass. So I started a riot and slit a few throats.

  39. Adeline’s yellow hair fell on her shoulders in whisps; it matched the hay. At her scalp I could barely make out the dim brown of her natural roots. Her arms, draped in my oversized sweater, wrapped around herself and she blew out a shuddering breath. Tell me, I said. Her head shook ever so slightly. Tell me, I said. And another breath flew out of her mouth, a tiny bird, escaping. But no words escaped. So i started talking. I talked about her sister, and how she had brought orange flowers; I talked about the sky in Vermont, how it nearly matched the color of the sky today; I talked about the petition being sent to the governor’s office, and how a crowd had gathered in front of it, marching around for their cause; I talked about our house, and how the shutters had just been repainted. Then she said, soft, I wan’ that. What do you want? She said, I wan’ what them people have. Them with the petition. I said, What do they have? She said, Purpose.

  40. I have never written a petition, this makes me sad.
