  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. pageants. wow. What an amazing testimony to the shallowness of the human race. Then again, I don’t know much about them. All i see are the horrifying dresses and “todlers and tiaras” among the junk on t.v. From my point of view, its just another way to keep women focused on their looks and off important issues in the world.

  2. I feel like one of a herd. Here we are, dozens of thin, fit heifers covered with foundation, and blush -to make us look as healthy and well groomed as possible- ready for slaughter. Our big blond extensions bob in unison as we smile and nod at each other, our faces just as false as our lashes. The lights go up and we waddle on stage like a trained circus act. Glittering soldiers following our orders. We glimmer and shine, our bodies valued more than the mind that got us here in the first place. We want to change the world and stop abuse, but we are abused ourselves.

  3. I on’t wat tot write aboyut a pageoant thats stupid

  4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is only skin deep. Both cliche; both relevant. Is beauty showcased or is it capitalized at the expense of real beauty?

  5. She walked down the catwalk. The lights were bright, and the cold gave her arms goosebumps. She didn’t notice though, this was her. It was who she was, what she was, all she was. She was in the zone. Strut, pose, pose, pose, turn, Strut.

  6. take a page, from your favourite book, and let a ant carry it home to his tue. good night.

  7. pageants are good for older girls, but they should be able to choose to be in them. little girls forced in them by their mothers is disgusting. mothers should not live vicariously through their children. in other words, pageant is a piece of music written by persechetti that i kinda like. it is also a funny word to spell. so ya know, LISTEN TO THE PIECE OF MUSIC.

  9. It was like a beauty pageant. The air of superficiality swirled around me in a fog of hairspray. I knew that these girls thought they were special. DIfferent even. But I couldn’t see it. They all fell together with their weak morals and plastic bodies.

    by Cara on 03.19.2012
  10. Misunderstood game for little girls and feminine boys. Though often parents try to reflect upon their childs glory. There seems to be a lot of glory in this “sport”. Many girls win tiaras. Boosts their self esteem.

    by Minna on 03.19.2012
  11. Her blonde curls bounced with her shoulders as she dashed across the stage. Strobes of light flashed in rounds in front of where she stood. The audience, behind the lights, stood up and roared. This, she thought, this was her destiny.

  12. The pageant is full of dolls, dressed up and painted, parading down the stage as if they were living, breathing girls. They aren’t. You can see their stitches.

  13. The word beauty comes to mind… The girls at my school who make fun of me also do. It reminds of all those times when I was little I dressed up, and all those times now that I wish I had the confidence that I once did of the fact that I am pretty.

  14. A pageant is sort of like a play. I think I was in a Christmas pageant before, but I don’t remember.

  17. She was a girl past beauty and then she proved them all wrong with the decline of a crown. Let’s see how beautiful she is in her heart now.

  20. Beauty pageants. Mothers pushing young children to be beautiful when they should be playing outside. Money, and prizes. Self-esteem destroyers. Killing our youth.

    by Tara on 03.19.2012
  21. There’s a pageantry to friendship. There is showmanship and bragging to the components of friends. Its not enough to say you are friends, you must show and prove. Prove. No titles.

  22. At the pageant I slowly enter a room filled with many other girls. They are covered in make-up, with eyelashes and fake nails. IS anything really real? Can I actually be myself? Or should I fit a mold where others tell me what to do and say and be.

    by Melissa on 03.19.2012
  23. Those are for weird people. I don’t like them. Especially when little girls are in them. Beauty pageants are dumb. Mothers shouldn’t be allowed to make their daughter participate in them, even if their daughter wants to.

    by Megan on 03.19.2012
  24. Pageants are fun. Pageants usually require a talent. When you are in a pageant you will crowns. They usually give the winner money.

Perfect hair, flawless makeup, skimpy dress

  27. I see the little girls prancing across the stage, but they hardly seem aware of all the people in the audience. Who are these people? I’m here to support my niece, but surely these girls’ mothers must know that not everyone here has quite as clean intentions.

  28. Beauty pageants: something that is mostly done is the USA where mothers force their very young daughters to become women long before they should. It’s hideous!

    by Laura on 03.19.2012
  29. I am not really a fan of pageants. They’re kind of interesting, I suppose. I used to want to be in a pageant. In all honesty, I still think it would be interesting to partake in one. However, I’m never fond of others within them. Haven’t you seen Toddlers In Tiaras? That’s awful. I hate that. But being fancy on a stage for no reason seems fun. I don’t know. Why not? Because I have homework to be done, that’s why.

  30. the pageant had just ended. Curls had begun to fall out of place, lipstick was smudged into blush, and the smell of hairspray had disappeared. It was time to return to the real world, where 6 year olds aren’t dancing in police outfits and 3 year olds aren’t being scolded for forgetting a step.

  31. Who is to judge what is beautiful. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, how is it fair to set a young girl on a stage – grading her beauty with a number 1-10.
Beauty is so much more versatile than that.
Why are young people today being taught that beauty is purely based on how you present yourself as an ideal that others want you to be and judge you on if you don’t match their ideal? Beauty is all around us in our daily life, our ideas, our thoughts… not just in the mirror we stare into. Why isn’t that taught anymore?

  32. pageants are ridiculous. Emulating the fact that women need to be beautiful in order to be the best, and now this has gone out of hand. I always knew they had pageants for youngsters, but toddlers in tiaras? showcasing the insanity of young girls being taught that beauty is the most important thing?

  33. The Christmas pageant featured gingerbread house building, carols, and a nativity play. My son Theodore was playing one of the three Wise Men, and his older sister had sewn the costume for him. Since he was the one meant to bring in gold, we decided the outfit should have some gold touches to its purple hue. He wore it well for the most part…until he tripped on the stage and tore the robe wide open.

  37. There were girls who liked being in pageants. They were often pretty and all dolled up to look like dolls. I always wondered why they were done up like that but the ladies never told me why. I hope one day to understand the why in the whole world called pageants. Pageants are funny words. I

  39. She couldn’t believe her daughter wanted to enter a beauty pageant. She had raised her with all the right (feminist) values, but still, she wanted to enter a dog and pony show. Where had she failed her? Was it allowing her all those Disney Princess dolls when she was a child?

  40. I watched as the little miss universe climbed up the stairs. I frowned watching her sneer at me. Her eyes smothered with make up. She was only eight.
