  1. I’ve had eczema since I was about 4. It used to be so terribly disgusting and painful, but I think it may have taught me self-care. There really is a bright side to everything that happens to you. Or, at least, there is a lesson. No mistakes, just lessons. No regrets, just decisions.

  2. She bend over to reach that spot. Why did her skin itch that much today. It’s not as if she had forgotten to shower and use some body lotion afterwards. So why did her whole back itch this morning.

  11. I once saw a fat man at the airport get out of his chair, walk over to a cement pillar, and then turn around to scrape his back against the corner of the pillar to scratch an itch he was not flexible enough to reach. Like a bear.

Were just a bunch of animals walking around with an inflated sense of intelligence.

  12. She scratched her arm absentmindedly. It didn’t escape his notice.

  18. ‘Have it all, I don’t care anymore.’
‘Just don’t come around later and say you want some.’
Her voice came at me as the screen door slammed behind me, the tone reminding me of a scratched record, the rising scratch of chalk dragged on a blackboard, the scratching sound of the sheets of tin on the roof rubbing away the itchy twists of the rising and falling wind.

  21. I was itchy. Everywhere. And they had told me it might be a side effect of the chemical imbalance inside my brain but it didn’t make it any less real for me. I couldn’t stop scratching and everyone couldn’t stop staring. I knew it wasn’t what it seemed like, yet my mind told me it had to be true.

It was the only way to stay sane…

  23. The skin on my chest was red and flaky, and it was itchy on my back and shoulders, too. I wasn’t sure what was irritating me, but not even washing every single garment clothing I owned seemed to help. My husband tried everything to make me comfortable; he used aloe, helped me bathe, and even was gentle with me if we touched. But as it was, I either had a terrible case of eczema, or my body had finally decided it was done with the world.
