  1. The skin on my chest was red and flaky, and it was itchy on my back and shoulders, too. I wasn’t sure what was irritating me, but not even washing every single garment clothing I owned seemed to help. My husband tried everything to make me comfortable; he used aloe, helped me bathe, and even was gentle with me if we touched. But as it was, I either had a terrible case of eczema, or my body had finally decided it was done with the world.

  2. It was itchy more than it was painful…. but it was better to keep his eyes closed. He knew that much for sure. He knew that if he saw why it was more itchy than painful, why it was so numb… it would snap his mind. YOU’RE TORN IN HALF, YOU’RE TWISTED IN TWO! a part of Jay’s mind screamed at him brokenly, hoarsely, insanely. He hushed it as he had a hundred times, a thousand times.. It was the only way to stay sane…

  3. I was itchy. Everywhere. And they had told me it might be a side effect of the chemical imbalance inside my brain but it didn’t make it any less real for me. I couldn’t stop scratching and everyone couldn’t stop staring. I knew it wasn’t what it seemed like, yet my mind told me it had to be true.

  6. ‘Have it all, I don’t care anymore.’
‘Just don’t come around later and say you want some.’
Her voice came at me as the screen door slammed behind me, the tone reminding me of a scratched record, the rising scratch of chalk dragged on a blackboard, the scratching sound of the sheets of tin on the roof rubbing away the itchy twists of the rising and falling wind.

  7. What best describes you? You’re like an itch I’m not supposed to scratch. If I do, it could be scarring. But all this itchy, itchy, makes me twitchy, twitchy. There’s just no relief to be found.

  11. She didn’t know it yet, but this case was not going to let her skate by like normal. She was proud of how well things were moving along and how much information she was gathering, until she got home and started scratching. What she did not realize before was that her hiding spot had been filled with poison ivy. She was confident she would catch the thief, but not without being torturously itchy first.

    “Are you-”
    She looked down in horror.
    “Oh no.”
“Okay, stay calm, it could be nothing.”
    “I was so careful.”
    “Meg.”
“I thought we had the vaccine.”
    “MEG.”

  13. I once saw a fat man at the airport get out of his chair, walk over to a cement pillar, and then turn around to scrape his back against the corner of the pillar to scratch an itch he was not flexible enough to reach. Like a bear.

Were just a bunch of animals walking around with an inflated sense of intelligence.

  14. I could feel the small scratches from their legs crawling up my skin, making it beyond itchy. It was the worst sensation I’d ever felt. It was like a thousand needles just lightly scraping the surface of my skin

  18. I was having fun playing a soccer match on my PS4 and Suddenly something made me feel itchy, and I had to scratch my back. Once I left my joystick, I just found my brother behind my back trying to distract me.

  19. For me, the worst thing that can happen at any particular time is to be itchy. But not only that, it is being itchy in a place that is difficult to get to and from there the worst is when you feel itchy, but at the same time you are unable to scratch the itch because it lies deep within your skin.

  23. I’ve had eczema since I was about 4. It used to be so terribly disgusting and painful, but I think it may have taught me self-care. There really is a bright side to everything that happens to you. Or, at least, there is a lesson. No mistakes, just lessons. No regrets, just decisions.
