I don’t really like this word! Mainly because I like the English word as it was meant to be and not just a shortening of improvisation.

I don’t improv very well. Not on my own, anyway. On my own my humor is shallow and small. It’s all ‘haha, so this one time-‘ that I think is very funny but somewhere between my mouth and your ears it gets jumbled and you look at me like I’m a nutter. No, my improv comes from you. When I can play off you and your words and make you laugh because you are funny. That is why everyone thinks I’m good at improv.

That’s what this is, isn’t it? Improv. Hell, everything is improv. All of life. Day to day. Everything we do. Everyone, everything even, going along, imporvising a way to survive. Nobody knows what’ll work, they just do things. That’s what I do, I’m no different. Except I’m not as good at it.

your neck in my teeth and we had to fool them
two beasts are not supposed to fall in love
(that would make it seem like it /okay/
that humanity isnt our default state after all)

The crowd was ready for the improv troupe … ready to laugh, ready to judge, ready to heckle. Jim wasn’t sure he was as ready as the people he saw in the audience as he stood on the stage, and he felt a drop of sweat trickle down the back of his neck.

what do you call a man who encourages his wife to be a prostitute and puts his children out on the street to beg and steal?

I hear that
‘Failing to plan
is planning to fail’.
But I did not plan to
or bond with my boss
love my roommate
or my ex fiance.
Nor did any forethought
occur before exploring
the soup kitchen and casino
the hospital and the ghetto
or the skatepark and the church.
What is planning worth?

she stood naked in the rain. her legs moved by their own will. she was not there. the skies filled her mind and she danced the dance of stars. unwilling. unthinking. she was herself.

He swayed across the room, could be possibly improv? How to act out the greatest moment of his life? The scene is set; enter angry wife and drunk husband. Only the secret stands between them.

Don’t think just write…and now you’re giving me the word improve? I am not a freestyler i guess. That is absolutely a thing to improve. Oh, and with new year’s coming so soon we will all have our resolutions and well, aren’t they improvements of ourselves?

I’m in front of all these people, the lights blinding my eyes. Sweat stinging them. What do I say, or do. God, I hate improv.

Miley froze. Her heart pounded out a drumbeat in her ears. she could see the disappointed eyes around her as she struggled for the words. They just wouldn’t swim through the butterflys in her stomach and spring fully formed from her mouth.

“Listen, you’re a very, very funny. And the energy you bring is, well, really-WOW. You’re just bouncing off the walls! And that’s great–really, we love to see people in here having fun, enjoying themselves, getting lost in the scenes… but sweetie, improv doesn’t have to involve cursing.”

Ha. The perfect word to describe this new venture in my life. A new life. Am I prepared? Do I know every line in which to speak? Am I ready for the unknown. Not sure how to prepare. Not sure if I can even be fully prepare. Improv. Go with it. Follow my lead. Just hear me out. That time is here. Lucky me huh?
