  7. I remember when your face used to glow in the morning, when you leaned over my face, my cheek while I was still half asleep. Face planted into the pillow. I remember that same glow everytime your face lit it when I proclaimed my love.
I remember that same glow getting dimmer and dimmer. I cringe thinking about this. I want to burst into an ocean of useless tears thinking about you. But I cannot.
I see that glow in my sleep. In my nightmares.
I saw the last glimpse of it when you disappeared. I told you to leave. I shut the door on you.
If you hadn’t gone, you would still be here.

  23. They tell us that women, like myself, glow. We don’t sweat or perspire. We glow! What’s up with that? I think it’s ridiculous! I don’t know about other women out there but when I work out I sweat like a pig. There is NO glowing!

  24. It is dim. Half the room cast in shadows, the other half in fluorescent white.

And it would have been intimate. But it wasn’t, if only because of unimportant company, chests that heave up and down with no real air entering into indifferent lungs.

And there is light, blinking without eyelids, open and close and close and open, below the glow of exits colored crimson, cholera.

Open and close and stay closed. And there never really was a key to the lock, so the pins never fit quite as well as they would fit into amphibious flesh dipped into a formaldehyde sauce, sating the hunger of a child’s curious mind because the only way to learn about life is to cut into it, apparently, and the only way to learn about a heart is to see it when it is gray and unbeating.

    Apparently.

But just because you can touch it doesn’t mean you should, doesn’t mean it’s actually there, doesn’t mean skin and bones are always nouns.

    Apparently.

Seriously, they’re in Australia somewhere and attract insects with their glowing, then inject their spores into their body, take over their minds and then made them explode. I thought it was pretty neat. Kinda weird, but neat all the same. Oh, nature.
