  2. I see the top before me, rising majestically into a clear sky. The cold hasn’t caught up with me yet; the trees and rocks still shelter my battered form. I hear the wind move the world around me and see the blue crests of mountains out into the distance. My determination has not wavered and so I reached the top of the 46th mountain with a sense of enlightenment.

  6. I am determined. Determined to finish my degree, determined to be happy, determined to succeed. Determination is what keeps me sane. It’s also what keeps me from killing the less determined among us. It’s frustrating to watch people just strolling through life, pretending that the universe does something “to” them, instead of vice versa. But I am aware that being determined to act upon the universe is key.

  8. Our fencing coach was a broad man with a thick Egyptian accent and a laugh that would send shivers down your spine. He gave us a pep talk. “Always remember ze great country you in. I ask Egyptian boys, they say ‘I CAN!’ I ask people from New England, they say, ‘I tried…’ You must not be zem. The ones who tried. Zey did NOT try, not hard enough. You must try, because you CAN!”

  10. to be determined is to mean to really aim to do something. To have an aim to be completed. It is a good thing to be but only to a certain level. Sometimes, you can want something too much.

Keep your eyes perched on what it is you want- what it is you need to have. Focus is the key to getting there, to getting what you want. It’s determination. It’s what you need to be: determined.

  33. In school, the teachers always said that he was the most determined kid they’d seen. Even though 9 times out of 10 he’d fail, the next day would see him in the library, studying like mad, going between the stacks sporadically to fetch more books. When he graduated with a 2.5, and walked from the stage, across the track field, and into the Dairy Queen, even the principal commented on his swagger, gold cross and chains swinging, catching the light. Now, here he was, newly installed in his 6 X 8 home, still determined to chip away at his mediocrity, still throwing back his orange shoulders with an air of determined disdain.
