    “But what if -”
“No, what if’s… just go, it’s a dare.” Her eyes crystal like the water below. I kiss her cheek.
    I jump.
It’s rushed with air flying through my hair and up my torso and I crash. I crash into the water and it’s simple.
    It’s beautiful.
    It’s a dare.
And I feel it all circulate through me. Through every finger and every particle of my lips. The water splashes over me, it deepens me into sweet surrender and I am there, at that very moment. She screams from above, “I told you, it’d be fun.” But it wasn’t just fun. It was the moment, I scream back… “I dare you to love me.”

    by Hannah on 08.05.2012
  6. “I dare you!” she screeched, her face purple and petulant.
He sneered, every inch the superior six year old. “I’m too old for that sissy stuff! I don’t care what you say!”
Her eyes narrowed as she glared him down. “Then you’re a coward, Tom. A dirty, stinking coward.”

The word echoed through Klaus’ mind over and over again, taunting him, reminding him of what he’d done. He’d done some terrible things over the course of a thousand years but never had he done something that drove away the love of his life as well as his younger brother.

if you will only stop to breathe it in,
    you suffocate yourself with insecurities
    and held pains
when in reality we are meant to be free.
    a new life awaits
one colored like roses and daisies
    in the new spring
you just must stop and look
    and accept he who brings.

  12. I’m looking for a new job because the one I have now is unsatisfactory. I’m sick of lazy, unambitious, and incompetent people who make money off the hard work of others and fuck things up so that all the effort expended is hopelessly squandered. How dare they sit back and complain about how hard their lives are when they don’t even attempt to make an honest effort at anything. Yeah, I said it.

in her eyes, before the sound, the bark
    or my body hit hers

  25. I dare you to do this, you dare me to do that. It works well as a game of bravery. Occasionally, though someone will dare you to do something stupid and will force you to do it. When it gets to this point a dare will only lead you into trouble.

  28. I dare you to write about the word dare. I think of truth or dare, but I always chose truth because I was too chicken to do a dare. I was afraid that they would suggest something I wouldn’t want to do. I was very hesitant as a child and not a risk taker at all. I am more of a risk taker now but hardly a dare devil.

    by Laura on 08.05.2012
  29. The dare was always easier than the truth. Giving a dare was easier than fulfilling one, though. Hanson, being one to dish out excellent dares, usually knew better than to pick dare for himself. However, today he had secrets to hide.

When avoiding the truth, people will go to extraordinary lengths to hide it. He didn’t want Jennifer, his girlfriend’s roommate, to find out about his romantic tryst with his neighbor, Gabrielle.

  30. She dared him to love her. She cringed when he refused and he smiled when she cringed. Why love on a dare? Why not love for love itself? Do you love? I dare you to not dare one to love another. Just love.

  33. She slammed the door. Hard. I flinched, as usual, even though I should’ve been expecting it. I suppose stuff like that’s normal for teenagers. Well, it was normal for my sister anyway, and she was definitely a teenager. Fifteen I think. She seemed to lose her rag pretty easily and cry or stomp out shouting, or both. I didn’t know what it was about this time and I didn’t dare ask her. I wasn’t stupid.

  35. “Truth or dare?”

It was a little scary, sitting in a circle with friends both boy AND girl … there was a hint to the air that was a bit dangerous and a bit nervous. What kind of questions would be asked? What kind of dares would be made? What would be revealed? Would everything ever be the same?

I quickly turned my head towards her and said, “What will you give me if I do?” She retorted, “You’ll feel alive for the first time in your whole god-forsaken life.” I didn’t believe her. I looked over the cliff and took a deep breath. I gathered my skirts in my hands and leapt.
