  3. dirty, filthy and gross. brown and white with death inside. stinks and makes me gag. gross. not sure why people smoke them either. it’s weird that you’d want to put your lips to a cancer stick.

  4. I love smoking at night. The way the smoke rises from the end of my cigarette makes me feel restless and envious. I want to be that smoke. I want to wind and whisper above the heads of men. Above the lips of jealous women in shaded rooms. I want to move and twirl endlessly in the dark…and slowly fade. Fade away into history.

    Jaclyn
  5. I hate the smell of cigarettes. Every time I see someone with one, I want to scream at them, “don’t you realize what you are DOING to yourself?! And to others?!” And do you know what bugs me most? When I walk by, it smells like cigarettes, and there’s nobody to scream at. That REALLY ruins my day.

  6. my dad smokes. Like crazy. He never stops. What’s sad is that they make him happy. So I can’t ask him to stop, really. It’s like taking away a puppy. Even though the puppy is killing him. It’s actually very depressing. I know you think I’m cliche. And I am. But it’s my dad. I only have one. And I love him.

  7. She throws the cigarette butt on the ground, stepping on it as the fire extinguishes under her weight. She wanted the smoke to carry away her worries and her sorrows, but they vanish in her nose and suffocate her lungs instead of saving her from the miseries of her life.

  8. cigarette. it’s a time bomb waiting to be set off. once you got it, it never goes away. but the feeling, the addiction, is what we live for. the adrenaline. the rush. it calms. a cigarette.

  10. Cigarettes are gross. They smell so bad and I honestly can’t tell how anyone can stand them, but obviously people can because it’s a multi-million dollar industry. Tobacco fields are everywhere in North Carolina. I don’t really understand it, but addiction must be a hard thing to break.

  11. i think it’s funny that some many people smoke cigarettes. i enjoy them too so i can’t be a hypocrite, but i can’t help but feel it’s done to be cool. Which is i guess why i don’t keep it up, because i hate feeling like i can’t even pretend to myself. My friend smokes randomly but somehow i feel like she just does it to almost brag. Eh that’s how it is i suppose. It’s a great way to meet people.

  17. You know its bad, you know it’ll kill yet its just like jumping off a plane. You are jumping off a perfectly stable plane, jumping out of it with not even knowing your parachute will open. When you take that lighter and light that cigarette its just like jumping off a plane, you might die, or you might not.

  18. The cigarette burned between her fingers as she inhaled the crisp night air around her.

“Are you going to smoke that?” I ask, watching as the ashes fall to the ground. She shrugs.

    “Eventually.”

“Sort of a waste, don’t you think?” I continue. She closes her eyes and a strange smile crosses her face before she turns to look at me.

“Don’t start smoking babe,” she says, “It doesn’t solve nearly as much as you think it does.”

  19. I really shoudn’t smoke, but now that I’m away from home and in another country I dont see why not. I know its a bad habbit, but it helps me meet people. Make friends. It’s a smokers creed. Don’t judge me, everyone needs a vice.

  20. The first of the day? no, the after meal one. perhaps the one before bed. She pondered which cigarette was her favorite as she mashed the butt into the ash tray. She knew the answer- she hated all of them. Even before they told her- you have cancer.

  22. Really? This is the only word? I’m guessing an anti-smoking campaign is behind this. But I’ll take the bait. Here’s what I think about cigarettes. Cigarettes aren’t going away any time soon. Don’t you think everybody knows cigarettes are bad? Obviously people don’t care as long as it makes them happy for the moment. The NOW is what is most important to the modern generation. Instant = bliss. Just think of everything we can have in a blink of an eye- food, entertainment, beauty, money. Why think of what could happen when you can experience what IS happening? So cigarettes might give you lung cancer in the future, but right now they’re giving you a nicotine rush that is freakin’ great. I’m tired of anti-smoking commercials attempting to “open our eyes” to the evils of smoking. Our eyes are open. Open your own eyes- you can’t stop people from doing what they want to do (unless of course you want to live in a totalitarian society), and what they want to do is be happy in the moment. Simply telling them smoking is bad for them will not help. Even showing them future consequences won’t matter to most. Unless you can convince them that cigarettes will not contribute to their present happiness, you will probably fail. It’s a worldview issue, and that, my friend, is not something that won’t be solved by a few commercials, however sincere they might be.

  24. Cigarettes are dumb. I mean really. Small smoking devices? Heck, marijuana at least makes you feel good (If I’m correct). And cigars have a place and time.

  25. cigarettes are bad for you and I do not like the smell. Although they may make you look cooler there is no point in looking cool if you are dead. Though I guess that’s not exactly true, james dean prolly looked cool when he died.

  26. I hate smoke. Makes me crazy. I’m a smoke magnet, just as a kicker. I stumbled upon this website and I’m not sure where this is going. Still, I’m game and open. Not for cigarette smokers. OK, I admit it: I’m from California. But obviously, we are on to something if even in Paris now, you can’t smoke inside. I rest my case. Except that it hasn’t yet been a minute. OK. Almost

  27. Smoking, blech. My parents smoked cigarettes for years. My dad, I believe, until he died. I hate the things. The smell makes my stomach turn. I remember going to school and reeking of smoke. The kids who taunted me. Made fun of the way I smelled. How was I supposed to change that. I hated it. I wish I had never had parents who smoked.

  30. Ah the old cancer stick. I know it’s a cliche kinda name, but someone said it one time and it stuck.
I sit and reflect with the cancer between my fingers, trying to figure who called it that first. I think maybe Allan, with those boyish features and large liquid eyes. But he bit the dust long ago like we’re all just waiting to do.
I transfer the cancer to my lips and draw it in, and keep on waitin’
    keep
    keep on
    keep on waiting
    keep on
    waitin’ on
as time slips and flickers like an old faded film.

  34. It’s your choice, really. Plenty of people see the world as a funbox, I know I do. I’d rather do something more fun though, like have sex. If I smoke, a lot of people don’t like that. I would, but only if the repurcussions were less. I wish they were, I’d love to. Still, I’d go nowhere with them wasting my money.
