  1. While smoking is bad, it is also a rush which is addictive to the body. I do wonder however what it is about thme that make them so bad. Is there any way to get that rush without allowing all those toxic chemicals into your body. I dunno, it’s a mystery. However until then it’s plausible, even possibly, that they will be outlawed. Not really a shame.

  6. everyone concentrates on the smoke:
black and dark and evil, twisted
as snakes coiling in dark water thick
as smog in a new york traffic jam angry
    as fire being pulled into
    thin tangled strings
    hiding the white ashes,
    quiet modest dust pale
    as death settling comfortably
    into lungs.

  7. my mother smokes. She’s always smoked for as long as I’ve known her and even longer than that. She started young and so did most of the people she knew. I guess it was common back then and even farther back. If anything, I suppose, it’s something to do. I smoked a cigar once; it made me dizzy.

  9. This is a medium of death. It is painful to see, painful to inhale, and, I imagine, equally painful to smoke. Perhaps the actual act of smoking is not so unpleasant, but the aftermath must be more brutal than the Civil War. It is difficult for me to understand why one would subject themselves to such a fate.

  37. Cigarettes…they remind me of the distant past when I would always smell that lingering scent of smoke at my grandmother’s house. They remind me of my best friend, hurting himself by smoking so many cigarettes, and I can’t say that I don’t like the smell of it, cause I actually don’t really mind it. In fact, I might even like it. But they bring memories from now and then….and forever.
