  1. I never liked going to the beach. I hear other people tell stories of living at the beach in the summer, hanging out with friends and la la la… but to me beaches are boring. Maybe it’s because I don’t swim.

  5. Yesterday I wrote about tides, today it’s the beach. Apparently this is a word association game, and I didn’t even know it.
    I have a mustache. Anchovies.
    Confetti.

  6. The beach… Sand, water, sky, all converging into one. I haven’t been to the beach in over 5 years… Instead I’ve been stuck in this small cramped room, with no chance of ever seeing the beach again… But i remember. I remember visiting the ocean as a small child, with my mother and father…

  7. Again, like I said before, I’m not really a fan of whales. Or this one guy, who’s on faculty at the local college, who’s morbidly obese and has the last name of Beach. I don’t like him, either.

  8. The only time I ever lived by a beach was in Irvine. We used to have beach parties every summer in the band, get together and enjoy the end of the school year, toss all our homework papers into the firepits and see all the hours of stress evaporate away. Sitting in a group, listening to one of the guys play a sappy tune on the guitar as the sun sets… the cinders of our past glowing and winking out in the space of a breath.

  9. I love the beach. especially in this heat! I dont enjoy obese people in bathing suits tho….

  10. Ick… sand in nono places and a hot sun… I’d rather go up north. I’d rather be chilly.

    by Frankovich on 06.23.2010
  11. Sand everywhere. But that doesn’t catch my attention. It goes to the sea. The power, the steadiness, the mystery. I am sucked to the horizon. Darn, I feel like Ishmael.

  12. who knows what flotsam can be found here?
    wander, take a look.
is it sea glass, or just broken beer bottles?
    spare change or buried dubloons?

  13. Alright so this is pretty obvious ot choose for this time of year. I mean everyone enjoys the beach. I haven’t been yet, but I’m looking forward to it. Nantucket. Beautiful. Beach is also another way to say bitch if you don’t wanna swear.

  14. sun and fresh air. but unfortunately the beautiful white sands are tarnished with residue of stupidity. Black sludge and the corpses of fish litter the beach.

  15. The beach always seemed like a romantic place in movies, but I found it to be dangerous and full of regret. The sun always bearing down as a constant reminder of what could never return, what was forever broken, lying on the ocean floor. I hoped to never return to this place where I had lost so much and gained nothing. The only gratitude I offered was the peace that the tide would wash away my footprints and never bother anyone with the knowledge that I was here.

    by Misty on 06.23.2010
  16. The sirens rang as the wheels screeched to a halt. On lookers lined the streets, their eyes doing all the talking. No one had seen a beached whale in the city.

  17. The beach is a place of terror for many people. This is where you must parade around in a bathing suit. Is it scarier for the person in the suit or for the people who can see it?

  18. The sand fell grain by grain as i lifted my feet from the warm beach floor. The water just reached my toes, and i knew this was the best place to be in the world.

  24. the sun is setting- a yellow glow settles over absolutely everything. when you look at the sun across the ocean your face is glowing and i’ve never seen anything so beautiful. and then the rain comes down. its pouring down our faces as we look at each other and smile bigger than i’ve ever smiled. we laugh and dance and soon its over. the rain stops abruptly.

  25. I didn’t go to the beach until I was 16 years old. I went with my youth group, and it was subtly different than a pool. I still was able to swim, but since I am very petite, I was easily swept away by the tide.

  27. We were planning on staying there forever. It felt so safe, away from the wondering eyes, the unexplainable answers. The light from the lighthouse searched the deep waters, while we hid underneath the beaming glare.

  28. The most relaxing place there is. Not a worry in the world. Close your eyes and feel nothing. When someone looks for the definition of peaceful, this is what they mean.

  29. She stuck her toes in the sand and laid there deep in though. She wished she could stay on these beach forever and no one would come and find her. This was her moment of pure bliss.

  39. The sand.

Its something you can never quite forget. Its in your swimsuit, in your eyes sometimes, and most of all, its something that you take home.

Those little grains that you cant help but pick off your skin in the car ride home, from when you were rolling around with your lover.

    That small reminder of happiness

  40. ive already done this. there is nothing new to say about the captivation the grains of sand hold on people. it hypmotizes one’s brain and makes us believe it is thee place to be. to hold, to walk on, to live by. what really is so special about this place, no one knows.
