withered
The old woman looked at her withered hands and wondered where the time had gone. She never pictured herself being old, she was still active and still had a life. But as she looked down at her hands she realized that she in fact was getting older and that time stops for no one.
plumes
I found a feather in the water. My mother told me it belonged to a blue jay. I asked her if I should give it back but she said that he didn't need it anymore. Birds are always loosing their feathers in flight. I wish I were a bird with beautiful feathers and a beautiful voice.
stories
The stories my grandmother used to tell held no importance in my life when I was a child. I just thought she was an old lady rambling about her past wanting someone to talk to. What I really wanted to do was go outside and play games with my cousins. But now as I have gotten older I see the significance in her stories. She was giving them to me to hold on to and to preserve her memory. I wish I could have seen that as a child.
blasted
That blasted, no good thief just ran off with my money. I was turned the other way, talking to the doorman and before I knew what was happening, the doorman was shouting at the thief and I was running 90 mph after him. I ran until my legs felt like rubber. That blasted thief is fifty dollars richer and I am fifty dollars poorer.
tales
Many tales are told about the forest of the west. Horror stories that scare little children, and make them not venture out to far on their own. The children's parents do not know if the tales are because their parents had also told them the same when they were younger. And everyone was frightened to venture out into the forest to debunk the tales.
tales
Tales had been told about the forest that lies in the West. Horror stories that frightened little children and made them weary to venture out too far. The Children's parents were not sure if the tales were true or not because their parents had also told them the horrors that happened in the forest in the West.
