Alarm. As in alarm clocks? It's alarming how alarm clocks can alarm you. BRING BRING BRING!!! Suddenly, you're jolted out of your wildest dream or even your worst nightmare, back into what you perceive is the land of the living. The wakeful world that is all at once wonderful and terrible. Alarming and soothing? Happiness and suffering blended into. All cued by the sound of an alarm clock telling you to wake up and start the next day of the rest of your life. They go off and interrupt your sleep, demanding that you wake up and face reality. Do you wake up feeling like today is a brand new morning? Or do you, like me, wake up wondering why you're alive, why you exist, why you bother to drag yourself out of bed when you can already sense that today is going to be a bad day? Either way, the alarm is there, and it already alarmed you into alert awakeness. Might as well go out and face the world.
