scarves
Scarves are like people, each one has a different colorful personality. Although they are basically just pieces of fabric or knitted yarn, depending on how they are used, it's how they express themselves. Picture a sparkly scarf tied to a microphone stand at a Stevie Nicks or Aerosmith concert. A fashionable wrap around the neck with boots and shorts, a business suit with a scarf draped over the shoulders or a lovingly knit one coiled around a neck of a child so they won't be cold. They are so simple, but can make such a statement. I'm not sure of the origin of scarves, but I know they will probably be around for a very long time.
