Sometimes the world we wake up in isn’t the one we remember falling asleep in. Sometimes the laughter is silenced and the good people are gone. Sometimes we wish we could take it all back and start over from yesterday, to tell someone that we love them or that we need them. Sometimes we want to save a life, and we can’t.
she needs to rediscover what it means to be high. really high. floating. clear. all knowing. trusting. shining. gleaming. inside out. she may be on to something high. she yearns for that rediscovery. she runs from that rediscovery.
Today’s word is discovering but I can’t get my mind off Robin Williams and how we want to erase stigma but we can’t do it as things stand. You CAN’T treat it the same as physical illness. I’m discovering that today I guess.
Discovering a new love, a different perspective, was the best thing that could have happen to me. Loneliness and fear had consumed me while I was ill. My recovery came about, not so much of my belief that God could do all things good, but it was the touch of her hands that morning that brought a smile back into my life.
We begin tentatively, with just the tips of our fingers grazing the other’s. Then, after we gather the courage to press down and under, that latent hunger awakens, overcomes, conquers.
discovery about anything, find something new , new invention, knowledge about anything. Find unexpectedly or during a search. To notice or learn, especially by making an effort: got home and discovered that the furnace wasn’t working.To learn something about: discovered him to be an impostor; discovered the brake to be defective.
i never knew this existed. white hair and yellow teeth and sick kittens. i don’t want to grow old, i don’t want to find that my legs can no longer carry me to the mall, that my voice is no longer loud enough to scream fuck you to the patriarchy
The place was familiar, or so Lys thought in the first moments: that crooked tree, that old fence, the house painted blue, the colour now faded and peeling – this house belonged to her aunt, an eccentric and solitary creature, and Lys sometimes would be sent here on holidays when her mother had to be away for work. But as she continued to look around, squinting in the midday sun, she was discovering things that didn’t belong in that memory, that didn’t belong in the world she knew as real at all.

There was something wonderful about discovering the true ease with which they could sit across from each other at a coffee shop and talk about nothing and everything while the hours swam lazily by. She had never imagined it might come to fruition, that her inexplicable crush would manifest itself into something so sweet and so seemingly…perfect.
Bonnibel was surprised to say the least.
Astounded.
It’s wild, creative.
It’s Marceline.”Do you., uh like it?” The girl wonders aloud, hesitance in every tremble of her voice. It’s so unusual, unexpected.
All she can do is smile, and kick the dirt under her shoe. Then glance up to
“I love you.”
“So what?” she bristles.
She wraps her arms around her shoulders, bringing her head to rest against her shoulder.
“If I love you, then I love anything and everything about you. That means I love you’re haircut.”
Her fingertips brush over the now shorter locks, still untamed as they’ve always been.
The smile that breaks out on her face is embarrassed, yet grateful. It wavers in place, as she physically struggles to drop it, but can’t overcome the emotion.
So then, she settles with something else morehumble.
“Thanks.”
He found it in the sand, glistening wet with bits of moss long dead covering its smooth surface. Enthralled, hands cupped it gently, then rubbed over the top like a pirate treasuring a gold piece. It was… perfect. Whatever the hell it was. Perfect.
You know what’s real grand? Catching a smirk on your big, pouty, wet lips as you wash your hands in the bathroom. You look into the mirror as you reflect on your new experimentations. They always said you were a creative one. So you take extra delight in this new way to make his toes curl as hands twist the sheets. An evolution on the old way of getting his spine to arch a good five to six inches off the bed as his sighs to turn into gasps. Feeling goosebumps raise on his skin as you let your tongue try a few new tricks you’ve been meaning to test out for awhile now. The way he shudders by the time your ready to wrap it all up with one last pop-pip-pop. You’re no ordinary smart mouth sass, it’s true. Plus you know your karma just went through the roof. “What goes around comes around,” it’s a thing said for many a reason. This one just happens to be for discovering that’cha like to surprise yourself too.
There was something to be said for exploring the world first hand. And she had to admit that discovering places with one’s own eyes was exhilarating in a way that staring at volume after volume of ink-splattered pages couldn’t compare with.

The cave led deep below the surface. He’d estimate exactly how far it tunneled down, but he was never good with numbers. He could locate these ancient artifacts, discovering their whereabouts with a thorough investigation of the clues that were always inevitably left behind, but math eluded him.
I stood at the front of the ship; although I was honestly entirely unsure of what it was called, staring out at the open, frothing sea. I wasn’t a sailor. I was just horribly, horribly enticed by the concept of discovery.
I could never be accused of discovering myself when I was young—for I am constantly in a state of flux, changing with every decision I make, with every decision made by others that affect me. The sun dipped into the sea, its rays bouncing off the waves and splattering against the glorious mast of the ship. There was something to be seen. Something to be conquered. Something to be caught. The world shifted uncomfortably beneath his feet. Wobbling atop the ocean. It was the end.
“Last time I checked, we were discovering the new, innovative way to travel,” remarked Professor Hash. “Not how many M&Ms Roy can shove up one nostril.”
I shushed him and continued to watch the spectacle. “Five bucks says he has to go to the ER in an hour.”
“Make it a half hour,” my scientist colleague Addie said.
Discovering the world as a toddler was seeing your parents go new places. Testing new boundaries. But as you grow, discovering becomes how you perceive the world. How you found out you enjoy the occasional glass of wine but do not like the smell of bananas.
I wasn’t sure what I was looking for- perhaps the start of something new, or maybe an end to a series of doubts. Was I searching for an answer or the question? To this day, I’m not sure- all that I know is that I was unwittingly discovering myself.
