  1. ere was once an umbrella that was really bright and made the sun reflect rainbows through the sky. It was neon green with bright pink flowers, matching my rain boots perfectly. I used it on sunny days and rainy ones too.

  2. the covering, golden raindrops flow down, stop them
stop the sunshine when the umbrella covers your hope
stop the rain when you refuse to let go of your picnic in the park plans
    let go. cover. protection. avoidance.

  3. When it is raining, an umbrella will keep your head dry. Or it can take piglet up into the sky on a magiSwcal adventure…but that is only if it is very windy out. Shaped like a protective cone over your head, it is a friend to your hair.

  4. Today I saw it. Just sitting there, looking all mauve like it hadn’t missed me or anything. I had moved to Los Angeles years ago, and had never had a reason to come home to Seattle to get my favorite old umbrella. In the umbrella’s defense, it wasn’t like I had ever picked up and purchased another one or anything; it was always the only one in my life…

  5. I like the concept of an umbrella. It’s like carrying a tiny parachute around with you. If you fall from a great height, there’s the small chance that an umbrella could save your life.

That, and it keeps you dry.

  6. The song rattles around my brain like a tin of chick peas falling down a wooden stairs, hopefully hitting Rhianna on a sore bit when it lands. She has a lot to answer for.

  7. Wet and rainy, the sky is dark and peaceful; I bring my umbrella to protect me from him, and his face, his touch, from the rain’s beauty and his sharp words. –He always told me to be aware of the thunder, and remember the lightning.

  8. wish i had one to block the pain
    raining down like rain
it swallows the vibrant love i could see a
and leaves me with the pain i continously breath
    why?
    maybe i’ll never know
and the reasons i can think of are simply too many

  9. it keeps the rain from falling on my head. it keeps the sun from damaging my skin. it keeps my wife from getting pregnant. it stays outside when it’s wet. it won’t break without wind. it twirls in my hands. it can bring you bad luck. it doesn’t want to talk to you when you’re lonely. it despises nothing because it has no brain. i feel like i’m talking to myself. it’s not nice, it’s unnatural. it’s plastic. it’s a thorn in the earth’s side.

  11. Umbrella, not just a rain stopper but something more. an item that can be designed well with colors or even pictures. a stick which helps stop rain drops from getting you wet or even messing up your hair. its more than an item in which it blocks the sun from burning your skin or even shining in your eyes. its more than what you think it is, its a valuable prize yo humanity. it has helped us with plenty of stuff, so dont just look at it as an umbrella look at it as life <3

  12. When I opened the rented U-Haul pod on my car to begin packing for my move from San Antonio to Seattle, I found a large, black umbrella with a carved wooden handle. I had asked the universe for a sign that I was making the right change in my path’s direction—I guess that was it.

  13. Marry Poppins. Always wanted to grab an umbrella and jump off a roof and float away. The whole physics of things don’t allow that though. Whenever I wanted to escape, I would dream of easily floating away. But wishing and what happens are two different things

  14. I had an umbrella. Standing in the rain. I took out my umbrella. It protected me from the pouring rain. I’m now safe in it’s wide arms. Free from the moisture falling from the sky. it is windy. The umbrella is unsteady.

  15. A stupid, stupid, corny ass song. I really am not a huge fan. But umbrellas themselves I really like. They can shine like beacons in the rain. When everything around is gloomy and grey, the umbrellas around can all be bright and shining orbs in the otherwise depressed landscape. And they keep you safe and protected from nature; though once in a while I would consider it a good idea to just walk and dance in the rain.

  16. I love umbrellas. They are fun to open. I like to open umbrellas inside buildings. People are still superstitious, y’know. And I also like to get a whole bunch of umbrellas, build a fort/tent out of them, get some weed, and hotbox my umbrella tent. Think about it…weed smoke, all trapped by umbrellas. And that’s why I love umbrellas.

  17. umbrella, Not just an arain stopper but so much more an item with colors and drawings all around it. an umbrella which not only blocks rain drops from hitting your face or ruining your hair but stops the sun from burning your skin or shining in your eye.

  19. In the summer following my sophomore year in high school, I went to a sleep away camp. One of the most popular songs was Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and we spent all day one Saturday singing and dancing along in the rain. Best Saturday bonding I’ve ever experienced. Thanks, Rihanna.

  20. I was walking down the dark and solemn road with my umbrella in hand. All day I had been dreading this walk to my dreary home. Rightly so. There was nothing there but half a box of cereal in the cabinet without a door.

  21. She used silence like an umbrella, sitting there, eating her overcooked scrambled eggs, she refused to talk about it, hoping this would shield her from the rain.

  22. the umbrella makes me happy, it protects us. And at the same time we can shut down the protection. That is beautiful. We should thank that rain or sun protection friend.

    by Emily on 08.24.2011

  25. It was the heaviest rain I had seen in ages. The type that soaks your core after a few seconds of standing in it unprotected. We walked out of the coffee shop, a six hour lunch in two locations. Your heart was heavy set in response to mine. Mine was on the floor being washed towards the gutters. Without hesitation I stepped out from underneath the lintel and you held your small umbrella over two despite it being made for one. A six hour talk concludes with ache and I sit in my car, the rain outside coming down on the glass as my clothing absorbs the water dripping from my hair. I sit because the only place I have to go is somewhere I don’t want to be.

  26. Rain like a waterfall
i think we need an umbrella
    but it doesn’t really matter
    right here
    right now
    wet lips pressed together
    in the cold

  27. i open my hand like an upside down
umbrella, and watch atomic planets tremble: grains of sand.

  28. Under my umbrella…ella…ella…eh eh eh eh. Ooops, my umbrella has a tear in it. So I guess that didn’t work out…That’s okay because if you say you love rain why have an umbrella in the first place?

  29. When I think of the word umbrella the first thing that comes to mind is the performance on “the substitute” episode in glee season 2 when they singing in the rain mashed up with umbrella than I think of jumping into rain puddles with my boyfriend Alex

  31. She needed an umbrella that day. The day started off with just a few sprinkles and had turned into a full-flown downpour. Too bad her umbrella was in the shop. That’s right. She was having her umbrella repaired. It was only yesterday when it blew inside out during a huge gust of wind.

  32. you can stand under my umbrella ella ella eh eh eh under my umbrella ella ella eh eh eh you can run into my arms, it’s okay don’t be alarmed come into me..there’s no distance in between, so go and let the rain pour i’ll be all you need and more.

  33. i always seem t need a new one until mine works. Kinda one of those things you want to buy and never do.

  34. I just got this word. Do I really have to do it again? Alright what I think when I see umbrella. ummm….. super dampness in a muggy dark shadowy town. Dark green willow trees, the middle of the day is almost night. Why this when I see umbrella????

  35. hope had once warmed her chest and dried her eyes, but this was long, long ago. she could not remember what kind of person she was back then. it was a curious sensation, living her life with missing memories and a humor that wasn’t her own. as it was, it seemed nothing could shelter her from the endless rain in her heart.

    shivering, she walked forward.

  36. The umbrella she was holding was clear, clear enough that she could see the rain pouring down on top of it. She liked that feeling. It reminded her of being at the zoo, or watching TV, in the best way possible. She loved it. She could stand there all day, looking up through her umbrella.

  37. MAkes me think of Rhianna plus I lost the game. This is mean because any random word will make me lose the game, and think of Bob marley. ANyway umbrellas stop the rain from going on your head and making you all soaked and stuff and I ddon’t like them thought I prefer to wear raibncoats even though you may get more wet in a raincoat, especially your pants. Anmyway in school it is annooying to have wet clothing and I have no idea when the sixty seconds are up because I’m not looking at the screen.

  38. It’s raining. I am without an umbrella. I am running through downtown, trying to find a friendly place to be my cover, but it seems like i am just passing walls without doors. I can’t find any haven! Then finally, there is the bookstore. The smell of old pages with dense stories fills my lungs and warms my body as if I were never wet at all. I have to look outside to make sure it is still raining.

  39. Cheeses are too cool for umbrellas. They talk too much when you see them, so of course it is a reason to draw your own conclusions about the time you’re going to be too wet to feel anything. I honestly don’t know what I’m talking about. Or if it haves anything to do with umbrellas.

keep me unharmed from the droplets
