  3. For the duration of his visit, Sam never bought any food. When Jon got back to his dorm, Sam would be sitting on his cot, eating from a pizza box, and Jon would recall the messages on the free-food email list that popped up twenty minutes ago while he was surfing the web during bio: free pizza, lobby 10; WHERE HAS THE PIZZA GONE, one minute later.

Sam was supposed to be shadowing Jon, but he snored away when Jon got up for his 9:30 class. “What did you do today,” Jon asked when he got back and Sam showed him a list of seminars he’d supposedly attended, looking at their descriptions as he responded.

  9. It never really lasts that long, she mused as she closed the laptop, got off her knees, slipped on her skirts and rearranged her habit. With one critical look at the mirror, she adjusted her composure and set her face into the firm grimace of Sister Mary Catherine – one look wiping off every trace of Candy Can Mary.

  17. Duration

It has been a long time since I have seen a stage. Yet alone danced on one. But today I shall conquer my fear of dancing again.

Ballet, for me it is one of those things you can do, and pick right back up after say four or five years. Ballet used to bring me joy, and it was an amazing feeling just taking steps toward the stage.

“Ella, what are you doing here?” my dance instructor yells from the back of the theater. Even without turning to see her, I know she is there, I’d have recognized her voice anywhere.

“I am here to dance again. It has been a long time, but I couldn’t endure not dancing ever again. I need ballet. It is the one thing that can make a bad day better for me.”

It has been a long duration of time, but now I would not have to endure the pain and suffering from not doing what I loved. The time for waiting was over, when I finally got to the stage, and stepped on.

    ~ :)
